Dinner after Maria's graduation ceremony. My latest photo taken.

Before. Me and Frank at a company ballgame.

This pretty much says it for me.

My name is Carmen. I'm 50 years old. Moved to Tucson in 1977 right after I graduated high school. Married to a wonderful guy (Frank) for 30 years now. We have four kids and 11 grandkids, and a new one on the way . We don't plan on spending our retirement time in a couple of rocking chairs. This body is a constant work in progress. I've experienced many years of bad habits. They say you must do something for 25 days for it to become habit. HA, HA. Not yet, but it is getting easier. The first part of 2007 I went to the doctors and weighed in at 232 pounds. I weighed more than my husband and was totally disgusted with myself. I struggled on my own, guessing at what would work. Then in October 2007 I found Spark. It was like someone turned on the light! (Can you hear the angels in the background?) Finally, I knew what was going to make the difference for me. I've had some setbacks health-wise so to speak that have put me at a stand-still a time or two. But I have no intention of stopping now. My profile image is my most current. In my gallery you can see where I used to be, and where I've slowly changed. We are making a new transition in our food plan. My doctor has been after me to follow the Atkin's plan, it's a bit too restrictive. I think balancing it all out works a bit better. We are still going strong and will not give up. Our lives and our future depend on it. The new year is here. It's time to finish the project. We will switch between cardio and kettlebells. I really like the rush from the kettlebell workout. That's the plan. I'll continue walking at the park. I lost the majority of my weight from my daily walks at the park. If you want to know anything else about me, drop me a line. It may take me a while to answer back, I work long days, but I will write back. Here's to a Great New Year!

My Goals:
To be strong and healthy enough that my weight or health is not the reason why I don't to do something. To be able to run a 5k., and to be able to hike Sabino Canyon, all of it!

My Program:
Tracking my food, and planning ahead to be better prepared. Tracking my water. Lifting weights, alternating upper and lower body workouts with cardio. Kettlebells. My elliptical when it's raining. There is a love-hate relationship with my elliptical.

Personal Information:
We live in Tucson, AZ. We do work long hours through the week. Each work almost 60 hours in 5 days. Squeeze in as much as possible in the evenings. Weekends are our chance to get out and do more activities.

    Hi Carmen! emoticon

I'm doing ok. How about you, Sweetie? Thanks for checking in on me. This really is the fight of my life. I'm not where I'd like to be with regards to improving my nutrition or increasing my exercise. But I am still hanging in there, coming to the website & looking for new motivators to keep me going. I refuse to give up!

Thanks so much for your support,
