The first step to recovery is being honest and admitting you have a problem. I am a wife and mother of 3 beautiful children. A 13 year old (stepson) and four year old twins(biological) that were born when their mother was 39 years old. They are my true motivation for getting healthy. I want to live to see them to adult age and I want to be healthy so they are not burdened with taking care of an ill parent.

I originally joined Sparkpeople in August 2009. I saw a report on ABC new's website. There was Doctor who lost over 100 lbs and she sited Sparkpeople as her source. I quickly logged on and joined. However I wanted a quick fix. So off to Quick Weight Loss I went. They promised, no, GUARANTEED, I could lose 80 lbs in 20 weeks without excersing, Imagine that! I was in. I paid the money, bought the supplements and got underway. After about 3 weeks I saw some results, however I was tired and sluggish. I was bored with the bland food and was draining my bank account trying to continue buying all the supplements. I slowly found/made excuses and once again gave up. It's useless right? Fast forward 8 months to April 2010. My Father and Superhero had to undergo emergency surgery to repair his A-Artery. A few days after the surgery he had a stroke. These conditions are were directly contributed to his diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholestrol. This really made me think of my own health and well being. I hope my kids never have to see me that way.

My story with weight issues started around age 25 (1994). I was always normal weight and ate whatever and whenver I wanted. I took thin for granted. Because of my poor eating habits I steadily gained 5-10 pounds each year and barely noticed. It wasn't until I was about 170-175lbs and squeezing into size 14 dresses and 16 pants to fit my wide waistline, that I thougth this maybe a problem.

Then in 2002 I was diagnosed with an IBS(irritable bowel syndrome) condition and had to take the steroid prednisone to reduce the inflamation. I had no idea the weight you could gain so quickly using this steroid. I gained 80 lbs! I was miserable to say the least. I had no idea what to do. I was never heavy so I had no idea about dieting, eating healthy, or proper exercising. So I did what I knew how to do, I shopped for new, BIGGER, clothes. Guess what else I did, because I hated the way I looked in these new clothes I decided to learn how to dress for my bodytype. Now this is not a bad thing but I was still not addressing the REAL problem. I was overeating, eating all the wrong stuff and basicly digging my grave with a fork. I have had many false starts. With the SparkPeople family, the tools, the support and inspiring stories I believe this can really happen for me. I can really reach my goals.

My first goals are to
1) No longer be able to shop at the Avenue, Ashley Stewart, and Lane Bryant.
2) To be able to shop at my old favorites again- New York and Company and Banana Republic
3) To tuck my shirt in and wear a belt around my waist.

I didn't want to put up a "Before" pciture until I had an "After" picture but again, it is what it is.

My Goals:
Start Goals
1) No longer be able to shop at The Avenue, Ashely Stewart, and Lane Bryant
2) Be able to shop in my old favorite stores again - New York and company and Banana Republic
3) Be able to tuck my shirt in and wear a belt around my waist.
Dream Goals
1) Wear a Bikini and look good in it.
2)Do a stripper dance for my husband using a pole.
3)To be profiled in a national publication for my weight loss success.


My Program:
My goal is to eat 3 healthy meals a day and 2 snacks. This includes lean protein, complex carbs, and vegetables at each meal. My goal is to have 2-3 fruits a day and 4-5 vegetables.



Personal Information:
I love motivational talks and I love to encourage others to achieve their goals. I am trying to turn some of that inward.
I like to read motivation biographies. I love a rags to riches story. My new favorite fiction book is actually a series of books by Angela Winters called View Park. Could not put this book down because although it is fiction is it my fantasy life.
