I have been on Spark People for THREE years now... I found the site when i was wanting to lose weight, to diet, to shrink, to be able to shop in more than one store... and I have found so much that I was NOT looking for - I have found friends and support, I've found emotional healing, I've found strength to identify and overcome emotional and relationship issues that numbed my ability to seriously seek fitness, and I've found that this journey is NOT about the number on a scale.

November 2008 - my husband gave me a Wii and a WiiFit for my birthday. I set up the machine and the first morning I actually had FUN! Oh I couldn't stand on one foot long enough to pass a "balance test" and the marbles woulnd't be coaxed through the holes on the table tilt. It hurt to lean forward to do the Slalom -- BUT it showed me that I could move and i could improve and I could better myself measured against myself and not against some fitness pro or someone else's ideals. It got me moving -- and it was FUN -- FUN is important for me - I've got to like somehting in order to be motivated to keep at it -- and I started a streak - I told myself that I would exercise to the WiiFit at least 15 minutes BEFORE starting my day every day == and I allowed myself to choose between Yoga, Aerobics, Strength, and Balance based on how I feel each morning -- Structure and Consistency blended with Flexibility -- I realize the consistency is what gets results but the Flexibility is also what keeps me able to commit and to maintain the streak.

My goal now is not a number on the scale or a size in the store -- my goal is to feel good in my body, to be able to keep up with the life I love, and to be healthy enough to enjoy the friends and family I cherish.

Thank you SparkPeople for being here, for being a place I've made friends and found ideas, and for believing in Fitness and Wellness of the whole person -- in lifestyle -- not in crash changes.

My Goals:
Ultimately my goal is to be healthier -- to be able to fully participate in life to the fullest it offers.

Short term - i want to get under 300 lbs. I can't wait to see that first number change when i weigh.

And I intend to keep Wii a part of everyday until I get the skill and confidence to keep expanding my movements and fitness activities.

My Program:
It's not about perfection - it's about progress! My program is to be conscious about my choices and to own my actions and feelings. Now that I have the Wii, I want to keep adding activity to every day.

Personal Information:
I started watching my choices on Christmas 06 at 336 pounds, although I estimate my highest weight to be around 350. I joined Spark People in February 06 and find the motivation, the tools, the friends here to be a total blessing.
