I have had a problem with my weight since I can remember but have been able to maintain it pretty well through diet and exercise until I reached this age - over 50. In my younger years, whenever I needed to lose 10 or 15 pounds I would diet for a couple weeks and be done. Now...not so much! I had lost about 50 pounds for my wedding at the age of 52 but gained it all back in a matter of months - how disheartening! Then I lost about 35 pounds for my daughter's wedding to get into a dress only to gain it all back again. I don't have any big events coming up and it has been very difficult to motivate myself this year. I am using an anniversary trip in October 2011 as a goal so that I can wear a bathing suit or nice dress without being embarrassed. I am hoping that I can lose and maintain with healthy lifestyle changes so that I won't be starting over each January. It is already the middle of July and I still have a long way to go. Going through menopause and having hypothyroidism is not helping my issues, but I need to overcome those obstacles and not use them as an excuse. God grant me the serenity...

My Goals:
I need to lose 30 more pounds and lower my cholesterol to a healthy range. My biggest goal is to maintain my weight loss. I have had success losing in the past but not maintaining. This year the weight is not coming off very fast. I need to stay motivated.

My Program:
I am eating low fat and good carbs - veggies, some fruit and some whole grains, while staying in the 1000-1200 calorie range. Drinking lots of water and walking and strength training also helps!

Personal Information:
We currently live in Florida. Our goal is to move to Tennessee, but we are not sure when that will be.

Other Information:
I enjoy my flower garden, walking, bird watching and hiking. Someday when my husband's knee and back are better I want to be able to go golfing and surf fishing with him.

    Thanks for the chocolate goodie Brenda! I love chocolate, but try to restrict how much I have. Haven't been doing too well diet-wise lately so have re-set my start weight and am trying again.
