    Thank you for commenting on my dogs! They are all between 10-11 years old and we are their final home. Maddy, the Pom, was rescued after being given up twice, at age 2. He is our only male. Louisa, the Lab, also had two previous homes and we adopted her when she was 4. She is a diabetic. Ginger, the little mix, was literally rescued at the vet clinic after the owner had signed the papers to put her to sleep. He had kept her in a basement for six years! When I went to the clinic to "foster" her, she didn't know what grass was.

    thanks for reading my blog, Do you wear a step tracker at work? I do, My job requires me to get all the milk , ice cream , creamer , butter , yogurt , apples and juices for the day that's a lot of trips to the refrigerator and freezer. Lots of little steps getting everything on the trays for breakfast and lunch for 185 nursing home residents , Lots of steps putting everything away from the dishwasher or bringing the carts in and doing the dishes . our cafe for workers is downstairs so that helps . I usually get between 13000 and 15000 a day easily We have a hard fulfilling job, Hope you have a great week , What does your job entail and where do you work? Just curious

    One other thing, you can make your own bone broth and have like a cup of that a day to drink or use in soups or stews. This you can us in place of the vital proteins. As the broth made from the beef bones, along with its marrow, has the collagen in it as well as all the vitamins and minerals. The collagen is also good for the gut because it can help heal the gut, especially leaky ones.

    I made my first pot in the cock pot the other day using pasture fed cow bones with some meat on them.

    First, I roasted the bones in the oven for about 45 to 60 minutes in a glass baking dish, saving all the juices that come out of it.

    Then you can either put it in a pot or a crock pot and cover it up with water so that it's like 1 inch above the bones. Bring it to a boil, and then let it simmer for about 3 to 4 hours.

    If you have a crock pot, you can put it in that and set it on low for about 6 hours or over night.

    Then let it cool and make sure you scape all the marrow into the broth, that's important. And then you can put it into clean mason jars, (pints or quarts, Michael's sells them), and then store it in your freezer and you will have bone broth for whenever you like.

    I can take a pint jar out, my freezer is small, and then set it in my drain board on the counter to thaw and will have it for a hot drink with pepper and some other spices that I like.

    But bone broth can be used in soups and stews. Or you can drink it warm or hot like I do.

    Once the bones have been use, most of the minerals and vitamins are gone. But you can still re-use the bones and make more broth, but it won't have as much minerals or vitamins in it.

    I am going to be checking out a local cattle farm near where I live, and another place to buy beef bones from cows that are pasture fed, or in other words, organic; free from chemicals and pesticides.

    I eat a lot of Fage greek yogurt 0% fat, the cheeses that she recommended: Gouda, Jarlsberg and the Parmiaggio-Regganio and they have to have animal rennet it. But again, 1/2 ounce will have enough fat in it. A calorie is a calorie. Along with 2% cottage cheese, and ricotta cheese that is partially skim. Again I watch the fats.

    And I use refined organic coconut oil, olive oil that is cold pressed, and ghee. but very sparingly, very sparingly. They have a lot of calories in them, but these are the good fats.

    Avocado is too, but if you eat a lot of avocado, it too has a lot of calories in it. I was eating like a whole small one every other day but it just has too many calories.

    I have to watch my fats because I had a papilloma removed from one of my breasts. It wasn't cancer but could have been.

    And I eat organic eggs almost every morning, 2 most times, other times 1. But then I eat veggies for breakfast too. Kale, spinach, asparagus, broccoli, and what have you.
