April 2008
Over the past three years, I have settled into my career as a Technical Writer/Editor, bought a house which quickly has become a home, and fell in love with a man who has this gift of always making me smile. Oh yeah, and I have gradually gained 31 pounds, wrapped myself in a blanket of denial, and am now the not-so-proud owner of pants that range from size 4 to size 10.

People told me this was happy fat, the result of being in a stable and happy relationship. That is a nice definition, but unfortunately, this fat that people call happy made me feel quite the opposite. The weeks leading up to the New Year, I had become someone I didn't recognize, not only in the way my clothes fit, but mainly my moods toward the people I care about. I realize 146 may not sound like the end of the world, but to someone who has never seen past the 120s on a scale, it was quite a big deal. One that resulted in a mini nervous breakdown after the lovely slice of homemade lemon meringue pie I ate and my mother asking me if I would like another piece. My mother takes pride in her baking, but I don't think she was expecting me to break down in tears over the offering of another slice. And here they thought we were going to have a normal holiday dinner. Maybe one of these days :) Anyway, January 2, I broke out the Biggest Loser Cookbook and the videos I had asked for and gotten for Christmas and got busy trying to get rid of my happy fat.

March 2009
A few things have happened since January, when I had gotten to my lowest weight and was only 1.5 pounds away from my goal. My boyfriend and I went on a cruise at the end of January. I came back two pounds heavier (boo!) and engaged (yay!). As soon as we landed, the wedding plans were in full force since we had set a date for October of this year. I began to neglect everything I learned and accomplished the previous year. All motivation just left me. I was eating what I wanted and exercise...well, that word and concept just left my vocabulary. As a result, I am now up seven pounds from the day I left and am completely frustrated beyond belief at myself. I just started Turbo Jam and absolutely love it. Healthy eating habits are slowly coming back to me so hopefully next month I'll have some better news to report!

September 2010
A lot has happened since I last logged on to Sparkpeople. I got married on October 4, 2009 and am proud to say I was at a weight that gave me the confidence I had been seeking. I was 117 on my wedding day but I was fit and healthy and ready to take on the world. Well, at least Hawaii for the honeymoon! I had gotten to my goal by eating right and I did a round of Chalean Extreme. Go heavy or go home!

Shortly after our honeymoon, my husband and I found out that we were pregnant! We couldn't have been happier with the news. Unfortunately with the news came an appetite that I can't even describe. I wouldn't say I used pregnancy as an excuse to eat, but in the end, the scale would definitely appear as though I had. By the time I entered the hospital in August to give birth, I was up to 192 (yikes!). After giving birth to out beautiful son, Ryan, who I just can't get enough of, 34 of those pounds melted away within two weeks. Now, it is the beginning of September and the beginning of my next weight loss journey. My eating is on track, now I just need to slowly incorporate exercise as I am still healing. I am going to start with walking/slow jogging and lead up to a round of Slim in 6, my go to when wanting to shed some pounds quickly. After that I am hoping to start P90X or return to Chalean Extreme. I have more to lose than I did on my original journey, but I am feeling more determined than ever. Looking at my wedding album helps in the motivation department ;)

Hello Hon! I saw you on the 20 something's team in the Intro section. Welcome! ^_____^ You'll get those last few pounds off no worries. I think your body has just hit a bit of an "I need a break" point. I have a tendancy to ramble a bit so I'll try and stay focused..... Try and up your work outs a bit more if you can. That might help a bit. Anyway, before I write you a page long coment. Just wanted to say hello and welcome! Feel free to leave me a comment sometime!. *gives a big welcome cookie*
