There is no better feeling than being healthy and fit. There is a big difference if you view healthy as skinny, the ability to stick to a healthy lifestyle is harder! There are no instant results and it will challenge even the those with unflappable will power. Be fit and eat nutritiously and I promise you will love the body you were given!

I always struggled with my weight growing up and to my early twenties. My mom was and is thin and beautiful, and as a teenager I always wondered why I wasn't like her...I felt I was the opposite. I was heavy and awkward. There were times when I lost weight and felt great, but then it always came back. In college I was an nationally ranked athlete. I was really fit and very strong, but again I was haunted by my weight (what the scale said). Because of my past and insecurities I fell victim to the "Female Athlete Triad" and developed unhealthy habits.

Although I was finally seeing the weight on the scale that I wanted and look (I thought) great, I was struggling. I was over working my body with extreme exercise, I was under nourishing my self by being extremely disciplined in what I was and was not eating, ever heard of someone purging a salad because they felt guilty? I also struggled metabolically, I lost my period for several years, had dry skin, and my hair was dull, lifeless and thinning. I was also always very edgy, my moods would shift up and down more than normal.

I thought that I would finally be happy being the size and weight I was always trying to reach! Turns out I wasn't made to be that small. At 5'9, medium boned, high activity level, and metabolic make up, I was never meant to be a size 2-4 and less than 130 pounds.

I am finally starting to relax a bit. Though I still struggle with gaining the weight I needed back and looking at myself in the mirror, even trying to feel good in the clothes I use to not think twice about. I am getting healthier, and I am listening to the advice I am so good at giving others I talk to and teach about nutrition and exercise. I may be heavier than I was a few years ago, but I am now at my healthy weight and my hormones are starting to regulate again.

I have days that I struggle to get my butt out there and go for a run/hard workout. I have to remind myself that I have to listen to my body and when I really don't feel it I just don't push it...I go for a walk or a walk, walk/jog and sometimes I just do some strength training and call it good.

There is too much in life that you don't want to miss to worry about what the scale says. Aim for health, longevity, stamina, strength, activity, and happiness instead. We are all built differently so don't compare yourself to others! So love yourself and stop worrying what the scale says (to a point) and Strive for a healthy, long, and active LIFE! I want to live a long time and do so actively and without medicinal dependency. I want to ski/hike/bike with my grand-kids, to teach them how to live long and happily :)

My Goals:
My goals are mostly to tone-up. I was a rower and miss the look of my muscles, though I don't need to be competition ready anymore. I am not as concerned with the amount of weight lost.

My Program:
My weekly life style consists of 5-6 days of 40+ mins of cardio and making a point of 3 days of strength training again.

Personal Information:
I have a degree in Exercise Science and am a semester away from a second degree in Dietetics. I love nutrition, exercise, health and motivating others.
