I'm a 21 year old Canadian student, on a path to get healthy and lose weight.

At my highest weight I was 235-240 lbs (I'm around 5'5"). My ultimate goal weight would be anywhere from 130-150. I would like to first get down to around 160 lbs as I have never been under 185 lbs as an adult.

I'm planning a trip to Cuba for my 22nd birthday (April 23rd), and I want to be able to rock a bikini with CONFIDENCE! I have never even owned one before, so this would be a huge accomplishment for me!

Just like many others, I have struggled with being over-weight all my life. It never really bothered me too much because I always have had tons of friends, boyfriends, and generally just a good life.

My parents are both African, and food has always been a huge part of my life. My mom cooks a lot of traditional dishes, which usually aren't the healthiest. Now that I am an adult, however, I really don't have any excuses as I am able to make my own food and decide what goes into my mouth.

I lost about 45 lbs a few years back with a program that was not only ridiculous expensive, but also very unhealthy. It took me two months to lose the weight, and even less to gain it all back!

This time around I am doing things the right way! I'm exercising, eating healthy, and making this weight loss a life style. I no longer deprive myself of things... I just eat in moderation! I love when I see the scale slowly going down, but I am now relishing in the little things too like not feeling out of breath walking up a hill, or being able to jog for a few minutes straight. Yes, I want to lose weight, but I also want to be fit and healthy.

As the weight slowly falls off, I feel I am becoming more of myself- and it's a very exciting process! I feel better about myself, and in return I feel like am able to give more of myself to my family and friends, and just overall be a better person.

My Program:
Eating healthy meals throughout the day.
- 3 meals, 2 snacks.
- Focus on CLEAN eating; less processed junk
- Limiting salt and carbs

Work out 5-6 days/week.
- Cardio (jogging/walking/gym/badminton) 5-6 times a week.
- Weight training 3 times a week.

I am a voice major at the U of L, currently in my third year.

I also teach singing lessons outside of school!
