Oct 24,2008: I'm 48 and on the move! After spending most of my 40's as a slug, I finally decided it was time to get moving and get back in shape this year! I've lost 30 pounds and want to lose another 10 --- but the best thing is that I feel healthy and strong again!!! I've been training (3 times a week) since May and ran in my first 1/2 marathon at the beginning of Oct. My "get healthy" routine also includes weight training 3 times a week, which I started by working with a personal trainer, who keeps me very motivated, and a Pilates class twice a week. My two biggest concerns are: staying on track now that I've completed the 1/2 marathon goal, and sticking to my workout routine while healing from IT band issues in both legs and a pulled/strained shoulder muscle. I'm wanting to try Zumba and Yoga classes. Gotta keep moving!!!

12/10/08 I seem to be struggling with my workouts and my weight. The scale keeps bouncing between 148 and 150....I was at 145 until the beginning of Nov. I've talked with my PT and he is keeping me motivated to workout --- even "spinning" with me as part of his own workout! Just can't seem to get the food choices under control....and my portion sizes are creeping up and up. I want to enter 2009 at 145!

Feb 2009: I've been on a plateau since the beginning of the year. Had an "emergency" session with my trainer on Sat, he "re-aligned" my workouts: added a cardio day, reminded me to do interval training during cardio, and combined my arm and leg weight training (I had been doing them on separate days) --- by Sunday I'd lost 1 pound... 149! Finally out of the 150s again...145 here I come! I've refocused and am back on track.

May 2009: Workouts are going well! Gearing up for 1/2 marathon training to begin in a few weeks. I've been tracking my food choices on LiveStrong --- I started doing this last year (before I joined SP) but wasn't consistent. It has been a slow process in getting some weight off, but I am finally back to 146. Should be at 145 when training starts, and will begin the final leg: the last 10 pounds.

Sept 2010: Last summer I finally reached 140...and felt fantastic! Unfortunately, since then I've been on a emotional rollercoaster of eating and not sticking to my workout schedule...and the scale now says 164. So, I am recommitting to getting back on track with my eating habits, as well as weight training. I've stuck with running.....currently training for a 1/2 marathon in Oct....but that alone does not keep my body healthy. It's time to do it, and I know I can!

Nov 2010: FINALLY! I feel like I am back into a great routine with running and strength training plus extra cardio (elliptical, StepMill, running stairs at gym). The scale is finally moving.....157!

Back in the saddle, again! Turned 52 this year and need to lose 20 lbs again.....yes, I gained 20 over the winter. It's taken me a while to regroup but I'm back on course and feeling good! I can do this!

Mon: Strength training
Tues: 1/2 marathon training
Wed: Strength Training
Thurs: 1/2 marathon training
Friday: rest day, or cardio
Sat: 1/2 marathon training
Sun: rest day, or cardio
