Being transparent - this is me at 221 pounds. I have a long way to go, but I have now begun.

The day I climbed Mt. Fuji. I want to climb more mountains, both literal and figurative.

Me at 156 pounds. I felt so confident, powerful, and energetic. That is how I want to feel again!

Yogi Berra said, "If you don't know where you're going, you'll end up some place else." I think what he meant was that you have to know what your goal is and be intentional about your plan to get there. Living with intention is something we don't often take time to consider, mostly because we simply don't take time. There is always something that keeps us on the move, pulls us away, redirects our attention. . . and everything seems to demand attention: family, work, activities, church, household chores, the seemingly never-ending list goes on. The truth is that unless it is a true crisis, most of those things can wait while we choose even 30 minutes to be intentional, moving and considering ourselves. We prioritize ourselves out of contention with an endless string of needs emanating from every corner of our lives. We often tell ourselves that we don't have the time or another need is more pressing. We allow guilt to seep into our thoughts and say it's selfish to take that time for ourselves. The truth is that taking care of ourselves is not selfish. On the contrary, it is the thing that feeds our body and soul and prepares us to be a greater help to those who depend on us. We are simply more usable by others when we are well cared for - and we set a good example by illustrating what it looks like to fill our vessel so that we can pour into the lives of others.

In 2018, I am resolved to live with intention, to know where I'm going, because not doing that has caused me to end up someplace else, a place my body doesn't feel comfortable being. I am resolved to take the time I need to focus intentionally on my body and mind. Without guilt, I will boldly move and seek to have my outside match the me inside. 2018 will be a year of discipline, intentional movement, and growth!

My Goals:
To move with intention everyday toward a healthier me, both physically and mentally.

Short Term Goal:
Do 30 minutes or aerobic exercise and walk 2 miles each day.

Medium Term Goals:
Run the Marine Corps Marathon in 2018 in honor of my late husband, Jason Springer.

Long Term Goal:
To reach my goal weight and have loads of energy to celebrate my 20th wedding anniversary in 2019 without physical limitations.

Completed Goals:
Began with intention on January 7, 2018.

My Program:
I have begun eating clean (paleo) and am tracking my food. My first 30 days will incorporate a Whole30 approach. I will also be drinking at least 8 glasses of water each day to flush toxins. For supplements, I am using the following:

My 30 minutes of exercise will be done early in the day so I don't run out of day or energy. Primarily, I will be using my treadmill since it's winter time and will also use a variety of cardio DVDs to keep my routine from getting boring. Throughout, I will be incorporating uplifting and motivational music to get my blood pumping

Personal Information:
I am a married, homeschooling mom of three, a Navy veteran, and I work for an amazing nonprofit organization (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors). In 2008, I used SP and lost 61 pounds before becoming pregnant with my twins. Now ten years later, I will use it again to create success and reclaim my health.

After having the twins, I went on to be a surrogate for my sister - giving birth to my niece in August 2011.

My weight has yo-yo'd with the two pregnancies, but I'm ready to reclaim the success I achieved in 2008 prior to having my twins.

I love singing, music, reading, writing, exploring, being creative, spending time with family and friends, traveling and meeting people.

I enjoy trying different sports and though I don't do it as often as I would like, I really enjoy rowing, archery, and martial arts. In my heart, I want to be a runner.

Other Information:
I have had my ups and downs. I let the downs contribute to my weight gain over the years through eating emotionally. I won't detail the pains, not because I can't talk about them, but because I believe in practicing Philippians 4:8 which says, "whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things."

I will continue to dwell on the positive of life, of myself, my circumstances and count them all for good - for without them I would not grow!

    Thanks for all the motivation this morning. I love you too! So we're doing a marathon or HALF marathon? When is it, and where? Half marathon sounds so much better in my head but extremely intimidating at the same time. The furthest I've run is 7 miles and it took me 2 hours. That was at my peak health. Ok done panicking. Have a good day!
