The summer 5% challenge is starting next week. Let's go starfish!!!

My Goals:
Get off metformin.
Reverse diabetes
Get down to my goal weight (125).
Run a 5k - I've completed 17 5k races
Run a 5 Miler (8k) - complete June 30, 2011
Run a 10k race - I've completed 16 10k races
Run a 15k race - I've complete 3 15k races
Run a half marathon - I've complete 2 1/2 Marathons
Goals for each race:
1. finish
2. get a personal best
3. don't come last
Eat healthy.
My Program:
Eat healthy.
Walk daily
Personal Information:
My name is Bernadette. I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. I now live just north east of the city. I have 3 amazing children ages 28, 31 and 33. I recently quit my job as manager at Tim Hortons and moved in with my daughter in a small town about 2 hours west of Toronto. I'm currently looking for full time work. As soon as that happens, I'll be getting my own place. This move has been a long time coming and hasn't gone as planned at all. I just have to believe that things will work out eventually. (Hopefully before I've worn out my welcome here!)
Other Information:
I first got serous about my weight when my doctor informed me that I was now diabetic. The doctor told me I had a choice - lose weight or be on medication for the rest of my life. I chose lose weight.
I've managed to lose enough that I was no longer considered diabetic. I took that as licence to go back to my old ways and have paid the price. I since put back over 40lbs and have lived to regret it. Life goes on, though, and it's time to get serious again. You'd think going back on medication and everything else that goes along with diabetes would be enough to motivate me but this time it just isn't. I'm joining the summer 5% challenge again and I hope it will get me back on track. It really is a good challenge with lots of support and new challenges every week. I didn't do very well on the past challenges but this is a new start and a new chance to succeed! I've done some shopping so I can bring some healthy snacks to work and I've set up some walking routes for me. I'm ready to go!
