In 2009 I thought I had a chest cold that wouldn't go away. I finally listened to my friends and went to the doctor who sent me to the local emergency room. I will always remember hearing the words "You have fluid on your lungs". Somehow I knew it wasn't good. Turned out my heart was failing and was at 20% efficiencency. Two years and 60lbs later and my heart is back to 60% and I feel better than I have in a while. I was motivated. I ran my first virtual 5K. Took me just under 33 minutes (32min and 59secs but I'll take The rush was incredible. The year before I couldn't run a block without being out of breath and having my hip lock up; so finishing a 5K was a big deal for this 50 year old. Want to start training for the 10K now.

For some reason, has to be something I am doing to sabotage myself, I gained back a chunk of weight and it refuses to go away. My BP jumped and I started retaining water again. Luckily both of these issues have been addressed and are under control. However, the weight remains.

I have been tracking my caloric intake regularly and I usually stay below or at the low end of the suggested range. Exercise wise, I shoot for 30-60 minutes a day and burn on average 7000 calories a week. I should be burning weight off hand over fist. Instead I yo-yo five or so pounds. Should be glad I am not consistently gaining; but, getting tired of not losing--especially when I my weight was lower 6 months ago.

Despite the initial success, I still have a long way to go. And I am not sure how to pull this off. I have slipped before and it took me a litle while to pick things back up and regain momentum. Problem is, the harder I seem to try, the more entrnched I feel.

For that reason I am looking for friends to not only let me know when I do well but to give me that much needed kick in the bottom when I am not.

As I indicated, a journey is best share with someone. Who's game to join me?

My Goals:
My goal is to drop another 35/40 pounds. My cardiologist's goal is for me to drop 70. Either way, a negative number is good.

My Program:
Watching salt and calorie intake. Exercising regularly with the Wii Biggest Loser, Bowflex, free weights, various exercise DVDs and walking/jogging. Always trying something new to keep it interesting and to keep from falling into a rut.

    Thank you so much for the goodie! You have no idea how much I could use that pedicure, but I'm afraid my feel wouldn't be welcome in the state they are in...too many calluses and blisters. But they are badges of honor at this point. LOL!

    It's funny, I saw the message with the goodie in my email but I didn't see what it was so I was wondering what would be good for my dogs...thinking literally my dogs! Too funny!

    I saw that you also have a bowflex. We have one, but I haven't used it regularly. It's my goal to get more on that. I like strength training, but I don't care for slowing down to change the set up. LOL!
