Updated September 2017 - For the 2017 Fall 5% Challenge!

I'm joining another 5% Challenge since it's been awhile!

My fitness goals are to be active 5 days a week - this will be mainly youtube chair videos since I broke my ankle on Labor Day. I also hope to include swimming soon, and walking once cleared by orthopedics.

Food plan: meal tracking with a focus on reducing after dinner eating.

I hope to heal so I can be ready for more trails, cycling and another TRY at the triathlon!

My Goals:
Achieve a health BMI/weight by January 2018 by using "my program" below (SMART goals)

Be successful at HEALTHY weight loss that is sustainable as a healthy lifestyle and healthy habits while not feeling deprived


Read/comment on Sparkfriends or other members pages/blogs 3x/week

Work towards balance in all areas of my life especially stress reduction and MH recovery

My Program:
Track food
Track exercise
Check in daily

-Exercise 4-6 times per week, 30-45 minutes per day. Walk, elliptical, yoga.
- Strength training: 2x per week.
- Stretching: every day after aerobic exercise.

- yoga 1+ times per week

- meditate 3x per week

- minimize sugar and alcohol (once/week for alcohol, one daily treat)
- Work through the Beck Diet Solution book. (began June 2016).
- Understand connection between feelings, needs and emotions,and food.




Personal Information:
Born in Kansas. Grew up in the SF Bay Area. Living in the Sacramento, CA area which I love. Married with two mischievous yet loving kitties. Worked in public service for 26 years and proud of it. Recently retired and working on taking care of myself and finding out who I am after being work-focused for much of my life.


Other Information:
I love to run but have had injuries over the past years so mainly walk, hike, cycle and swim. I was training for my first triathlon when I broke my ankle (getting into a kayak!) I hope to be able to train for one again. I also like being outside, the ocean, the mountains, animals, especially our two kitties, reading, watching movies and TV series, spending time with my good friends.

    Betsy, thank you for the message. It's strange--I was driving home from taking Toshi to the station, and suddenly, for no apparent reason, you popped into my mind. "I wonder how Betsy is doing," I thought, and then when I got home, I found your message, which you had sent four minutes earlier, so about the same time as I was thinking about you! ESP!
