I have not always had to worry about my weight. As a matter of fact when I was younger, I ate like a horse!!! In high school they remember me actually getting two lunches at times. When I went to Padre Island to see my cousin, my aunt and uncle told my parents they would either pay for the plane ticket or my food. Well, hello my parents picked the plane ticket and my aunt and uncle thought they were getting off cheap. Little did they know!!!
I had my first child when I was almost 24. However, I had to be put on bed rest and I did follow the idea of eating for two. I gained alot of weight!! As soon as he was born I went back to work and began to exercise, but since I never really needed to before I did not know what to do, so I just ran. A year later I was pregnant again and I still needed to lose at least 10 pounds that I had gained before. As usual I gained alot of weight again. As soon as I could I began to try and get the weight off by walking nightly with the boys. Little did I know that I also needed to watch what I was eating.
Things did not change for me until I moved and joined a new gym in 1998. I began to consistently do cardio and lift weights. I got a trainer to show me what to do and NOT do. I also met a women who was to become one of my best friends today Lori!! We started this road together. It was through the gym that I also became friends with Cindy and Krisie (again these 3 women are my best friends today!) As I committed to my life and new lifestyle I went from 160 to 120. The change was amazing!! Going from a size 12 to a 4-6 was so COOL!!!!
I was remarried in 2006 and I looked so buff!!! Later that year (the day BEFORE Thanksgiving, thank you very much) I hurt my lower back at the same gym I had been going to for 8 years. It was horrible!! I needed to go to the hospital and that put me out of commition for lmost 6 months while I had to rehab. Boy do the pounds fly back on when you stop working out!! As a result I gained almost 20 pound. I was so depressed. I was unmotivated to get back to the gym and I ate like I was a teenager again. It wasn't until last January (2008) that I really made somewhat of a committment to the gym and meeting with Lori again daily. By then I had gained almost 8 MORE pounds, for a total of 28 pounds!!. By June (2008) I was back into full swing with Lori. We have a standing appointment DAILY in the gym at 5:00pm. Cardio and weights. I was able to lose about 15 pounds before we went to Mexico with the boys in Oct. 2008.
As I begin to move toward my 40's, I want to make sure that I am the healthiest I can be. Type 2 Diabetes looms in the future in my family, along with heart issues and strokes. I know that living a healthy lifestyle is one postive step I can make.

Weights - body part a day; w/interval cardio inbetween
