My life goal is to abide in Christ. Without Him, I can do nothing.

I am learning this applies to EVERY area of my life, including my eating and exercise habits.

Around Christmas 2008, I was searching and praying for help. I was given 2 sets of verses:

Romans 12:1 - "Therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your spiritual worship."

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 - "Do you not know that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body."

As I explore these verses and meditate on them, I am learning how to present my body as a living sacrifice and how to glorify God in my body.

I have so much to learn, but as I abide, I find myself being transformed from the inside out.

July 2009:
I was given another related verse:
Luke 12:29 - Don't keep striving for what you should eat and what you should drink, and don't be anxious.

The name of the game for me right now is to QUIT STRESSING. I'm to eat and exercise in a way that glorifies God and not sweat it!

My Goals:
My goal is to develop life habits in eating and exercise that I practice whatever the circumstances in my life.

I reached my goal weight! 3/26/12. I will stay at 150 pounds.

I will be under 30% body fat.

I incorporate regular cardio and strength training into my routine.


My Program:
In March 2011 I read "Made to Crave" and realized, for me, this is a spiritual journey. I am learning to abide in Christ in a whole new way and be healthy "in every sense of the word."

I started the Medifast 5 & 1 plan on 8/12/11. Medifast was the vehicle that got me to my goal weight.

I read "Refuse to Regain" as I neared my weight goal, and will be following a primal/paleo diet to maintain my weight (meat, fruit, veggies, nuts, some dairy).



Personal Information:
I live in North Alabama, in the small town where I graduated high school.

I am 41 and married for 20 years to my high school sweetheart. We have 2 children, a 15 yr old son and a 13 yr old daughter.

I teach middle school math.


Other Information:
My new favorite book: "Redeeming Love" by Francine Rivers.

Some of my other favorite books: Gone With the Wind, Mary Higgins Clark's "All Around the Town," the Mitford Series, the Twilight Series

Some of my favorite movies: Gone With the Wind, Phantom of the Opera

Favorite Music: Casting Crowns, Matthew West, Daughtry

    Hi, I think I saw you on the Daniel Plan team page a while back. I've been mostly paleo for the last year or so and have just started looking into the Keto way of eating. It looks like we have some of the same interests so I just wanted to say "hi" emoticon Have you started on the Keto diet? Did you do the Daniel Plan? I'm thinking about starting on Monday eating Keto, but incorporating the other aspects of the Daniel Plan (Bible study, exercise, etc.). I tried the detox part of the Daniel Plan last week, but it didn't work for me - my body just can't handle the grains they included (rice and quinoa). Anyway, if you're looking for someone to connect with for accountability, encouragement, etc. I'd definitely be interested!
