Me: I'm a post-doc living in Chicago. I love to read, write, eat well, drink well ;)

Goals: I'd like to keep the muscle and fitness I've built while slimming down a bit. I'd also like to keep working on staying positive, working mindful habits and emotional well being. I’ve lost weight successfully using the Noom app (amazing), but have a few more pounds to lose. My goal weight is between 115 and 120.

Food: whole, real foods. Lots of veggies and fish. Other staples: beer, wine, dark chocolate :)

Fitness: ashtanga yoga 3x a week, gym workouts 3-4 times a week, walk everywhere.

My Process: I've realized that my biggest hurdles are emotional ones -- I stand in my own way in all sorts of ways -- setting up mental obstacles, judging myself and my actions too harshly, having little confidence in my ability to do great things, and failing to celebrate the great things I'm already doing.

I've starting seeing a therapist, journaling, and meditating 10-15 minutes a day. These steps are helping me make connections and begin to shift my mental habits away from perfectionism, guilt, and self-criticism, and toward self-compassion and forgiveness.

Journaling has been really helpful to me -- not only does it help me collect and process my thoughts and feelings in a productive way, but it also is relaxing and meditative in itself. Just the act of writing by hand in a notebook is so soothing.

While my tastes in food are very healthy ones and I have a natural love of movement and exercise of all kinds, I really struggle with BIG portions and mindless/emotional snacking. I'm working on the internal aspects of health through journaling, meditation, yoga, and exercise, which is a huge emotional boost for me. I'm trying to remind myself that I have a responsibility to shine forth in the world!
