I have struggled with my weight most of my life. 38 years ago, I had a severely broken ankle and have had to have multiple surgeries to be able to continue walking. Over the years, the pounds have piled on and more health issues have slowed me down further. I had one knee replacement and need to get the weight down again so that I can have the other one done, so I really need to stay on track. I was with Calorie King years ago and lost some and then lost almost 100 pounds total after switching to Spark. I am so thankful for Spark and the wonderful people here. My daughter is now 13 and needs me to take care of myself so I can be there for her. I want to be able to do things with her and take her neat places, without being tired and sore and not be able to fit into the seats!!!! I now have 3 types of arthritis, degenerative disc disease, nerve damage in my back that impacts my mobility and has caused neuropathy in my legs and feet, vertebral slippage and I have to walk with a cane. I can't walk very far or stand long and had to get a scooter. We were foster parents for 11 years and had 10 kids over the years, adopting 2, Dakota, our daughter, 13 now and Chris, 22 next month. For those of you who know me, Chris was gone from us for several years, but called when he was 18 and invited us to his graduation! He is back to being an active part of our family again and has become a wonderful young man. Espy, 18 and her brother John, now 16, found us 3years ago, after not seeing us since they were 6 and 4! They are with an aunt and we see them frequently now, so we have a busy family! My profile picture is our dear puppy, Rio. He is my snuggle puppy and brings much love and comfort. We are all working to heal wounds and I need to regain my strength and build a new life, hopefully finding the energy to do what I need to do so I can take better care of myself and live the life I want to live for myself and my family!

My Goals:
I want to be comfortable in me and be able to be active and enjoy my life and my family!

Lose enough weight so that my Dr. will feel comfortable doing my knee replacement.


My Program:
I am tracking my food intake religiously, which helps hold me accountable. My partner is cooking Spark recipes for dinner most nights, which are wonderful, by the way! I'm seeing a trainer once a week and need to get myself to the gym at least one other day or do some kind of workout!

I enjoy being outside, reading, quilting, cross stitching, my cats (especially when they are purring), and doing things with my friends and family. I love my church family and their love for me, my partner and our daughter.

    I'm so glad you're doing so well! I thought I was going to do really well with the circuit training. Unfortunately there were four of nine machines I'm not allowed to use because of those bottom three discs in my back. So for them I just kind of walked or jogged a bit in place. That was ok. What really killed me was the step exercises you had to do in between each machine for 60 seconds. Archimedes mentioned that the steps might actually be too high for me. I think maybe she was right. My calves and thighs hurt SO bad when I was done with that. So now I'm doing the treadmill every time I go, and every other time I will work my upper body. If I get to a point where I'm not having discomfort in my lower back anymore, I MAY try some of the other machines. I just don't want to end up with another bout of bad back. I've been really good since November 2008. What I really need is to get back in the water. Are the resistance exercises you're doing on machines or what? Hugs, Calen~
