Update March 28, 2020
Decided it s time to update my page. Getting ready for spring 2020 challenge. Because of Coronavirus my husband is working from home. It has been nice to have him around. But his work is stressful. We have been taking a walk around the neighborhood each morning and I have exercise that my Chiropractor has given me to do. Getting in about an hour. Can’t wait for our gym to be able to reopen.

Update August 9 2019
Visiting my MIL and husband’s family for two weeks. We get along well.
We are attending a wedding this afternoon. The son of a long time friend of my husband.
I am on a plateau. According to the scale this morning I have gained 4 pounds. It was a different scale and it IS hard to loose weight when you are traveling and have no control over what you will eat.
I have been drinking my water but have no control over what I have set before me for lunch or dinner. It is frustrating. Not enough freggies. I did go with my MIL to her gym yesterday, and will go with her when she goes. Walking around the neighborhood with my DH will be my other exercise.

Update July 4, 2019
Just updated my friend list. Eliminated friends that I have not had contact with in some time.
Going to be a Cloverleaf in the summer challenge. Need to get that team on my page.
I am very busy grandmother. Three that live one mile from me and my daughter needs a lot of help.
Member of a gym just 5 miles away. I hate the summer heat.
Traveling in August for two weeks to visit family and attend a wedding.
Goals:
Drink 8 8oz glasses of water per day
No eating after dinner
6 fruit or vegetables per day.

Update June 7, 2019
Getting ready to do the Summer 2019 challenge
Starting date still to be determined.
I only lost 2.5 lbs in the spring.
Made some changes that I think will help me.
Need to exercise more frequently, have to figure out how to get to the gym 5 times a week, have added the dreaded treadmill. Need to think about strength training exercises.

Update March 21, 2019
Getting ready to participate in the 2019 Spring 5% challenge Starting April 6
These challenges keep me going. I am committed to continuing my exercising and doing my best to keep up with the weekly challenges.
Since my last challenge I have made it into onederland.
I now have 6 grandchildren. Four by birth and two by marriage. I love them all.

Update on March 13, 2016
Going to do the 2016 Spring 5% Challenge starting March 26. It is an eight week commitment. My Exercise Commitment is to go to my gym 2- 3 times per week, and on other days do work in front of tv. We have bought a exercise step which is easy to work on. I am not currently doing this so I will work on it.

update January 3, 2016
I tried doing this with the app on my iPad but didn't work, so trying again.
I have repicked up the Spark book and reading it. So going to sign in again with my team.
I am on the Winter 5% challenge, and hope that this time I will make progress. I started it off with sinus AND ear infections, so am slow to exercise, but working on my water.
I got a fitbit flex just after Thanksgiving and since have made it over 5000 steps everyday but 2. When you sink it with Spark People you automatically get joined up to the fitbit team.
I plan to be motivated by my Spark friends and in turn motivate them. I also plan to not give up on myself. I will make progress.
I plan to write a blog at least weekly with my progress, and set my current status more frequently. I am a busy woman, with two precious GC that I help care for, active in church, lead a weekly woman's Bible Study, and chair our Missions Committee. We are in a state of flux at church as our current Pastor is retiring at the end of February, and our Pastor Search Committee is busy praying and researching for a replacement.
I am a member of a health club, Heart at Work for people over 50. I qualify since I am 60. I will be going on Monday, Wednesday and Friday since my daughter has changed her work schedule. I also volunteer at my grandsons school.

Update October 1, 2015
5% Fall challenge, Cloverleaf team
what I have changed is beginning to use elliptical at gym, started with 3 minutes at level 1, resistance 1. Will increase by 1 minute increments.
I watch my 3 year old granddaughter 2 days a week, helping my DDIL adjust to life without my son due to divorce, and care of my 5 year old GS. Very involved in my church through Bible study, Missions, prayer, and nursery work. Love my local church body of believers.
Hoping this challenge will be the one that gets me going down in my weight, and increases my strength.

Update on June 19, 2015
Starting Summer 5% weight loss challenge.
Exercise plans. Go to my gym Heart at Work at least 2 times per week. On other days workout at home doing Dumbbells, chair exercises, or bands 20 mins each day.
Drink 5 glasses of water each day and work up to 8.

Update on March 29, 2015
Starting a new challenge with the cloverleaf team on the Spring 5% challenge.

Update on December 28, 2014
I am back after over a year away. I cleaned up my friends by going to their pages and deleting any that haven't been around for over a year. I am recognizing once again how important it is for me to loose weight in order to be healthy. I may not be here every day, but will try. Glad to have Spark People in my life again. The support was greatly missed, and I do recognize my need to be a supporter to.

Update on July 14, 2013
On my way to my 6th 5% challenge, which is 5% of my weight at the start of the challenge which is July 27th. It lasts 8 weeks, and I am going to be a Beautiful Butterfly again. I may change my picture, to a different butterfly, or stay the same. My grandkids are my motivation, but also my disabled, crippled sister who I just visited, whose body is wracked with arthritis, (she is 60 - 2 years older than me), who is working hard to just be able to WALK AGAIN WITH THE AIDE OF A WALKER. If she can work through the pain, so can I.
I am eating with the Curves Complete, and doing Curves exercise at least 4 days per week. My need is to find other exercise to do on the days that I do not go to Curves. I will work on that and update it here.
Have you got your gym clothes, runners, water bottle, etc. ready to go?

I have gotten rid of foods that are not healthy for me, and I have my husband and Curves Coach to be accountable. My issues in the last challenge had to do with stress and my reactions to it. I will write up a blog about how I plan to handle stress this time around. I was supposed to loose 11.5 and actually gained half a pound from my start, but am now down 3 lbs from the start. So I have made some progress. THIS IS THE CHALLENGE, I WILL GET BELOW 200 LBS.
Update on May 2, 2013
I am going to do my 5th 5% challenge. This will be the 2013 Spring challenge. I will be a beautiful butterfly once again. In the winter challenge I was successful in loosing my 5% plus half a pound. I lost 11.5 lbs. Since I have gained 3. I will update this on Saturday May 11, the first day of the challenge with my beginning weight, the weight I need to loose. My plan is still the same, continue to work out at Curves four times per week, walk, use the Curves complete eating program, and meet with my Curves Coach one time a week. I will get weighed in there on Weds, but for the challenge I will weigh myself on Sats. I will be getting my inch measurements done each month.

I am going to add some pictures here. I had a wonderful 58th birthday with my family, and they have all been very supportive of me. I Can and WILL do this.

Update FEBRUARY 9, 2013
Taking on a new challenge in the form of 5% Winter challenge team. Goal to loose 5% of my weight. Current weight is 220. 5% is 11 lbs. I know that I can do this. I lost 8 lbs in the summer challenge. I have gained 6 lbs since the last challenge in the fall. This time I have plans. I am going to trust God to help me with this.

~~~~~~~~ I AM GOING TO DO THIS ~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~ CHEER ME ON ~~~~~~~~~~

Updating as of June 11, 2012
I haven't lost weight since January. I have decided to make some changes to change that. I joined the 10 minutes of exercise a day challenge last week. So far so good.
I joined Curves in April, and they are having a Last Queen Standing contest for the summer for those girls who come three times a week for 8 weeks. I signed up for that as well. This means that when I travel next week I will need to visit the Curves in the city I am in. (Which I did, Yeah)
And I signed up to join the 5% weight loss challenge team, which is 8 weeks, and I am working on how I am going to loose at least 11 lbs in the 8 weeks of the challenge. I know that I can do it. And I know that I will.
end of update.
I live in Texas, transplanted from New England. I hate the heat, and find it difficult to exercise. I had knee replacement in 2007 and because of that also find exercise difficult. I would like to loose weight, get more energy, to keep up with my grandson, 17 months, Stryker. I have three grown children, and a marvelous husband who is very supportive.
I am working on my long term goals: to climb a mountain with my husband, to go rappelling, to walk in a 5K for some charity, to visit Israel, these are things I want to do when I have gotten healthier, that will motivate me to continue on this journey.

Hallelujah! It's Friday! What a blessing!
Here are some funny church bulletin postings.

Mrs. Jones remains in the hospital and needs blood donors for more transfusions.
She also is having trouble sleeping and requests tapes of Pastor Nelson's sermons.

The Choir director invites any member of the congregation who enjoys sinning to join the choir.

The ladies of the church have cast off clothing of every kind.
They may be seen in the church basement on Friday afternoon.

Our new associate minister unveiled the church's new tithing campaign
slogan last Sunday: I upped my pledge - up yours!

A new cookbook is being compiled by the ladies of the church.
Please submit your favorite recipe with a short antidote for it.

Ladies don't forget the rummage sale. It's a good chance to get rid
of those things not worth keeping around the house. Don't forget your husbands.

Tip of the day: How do they make holy water? They boil the hell out of it!

    Enjoy your weekend!

It's Friday once again! I think these jokes will be just what the doctor ordered to tickle your funny bone because they're actually quite "humerous."

A mother complained to the family doctor that her daughter laid in bed all day long, and all she would eat is yeast and car wax." "What will happen to her, doctor?"
He replied, "Eventually she will rise and shine."

Funny medical one-liners, exactly as typed by medical secretaries:

Patient has left her white blood cells at another hospital.

Patient has chest pain if she lies on her left side for over a year.

On the second day the knee was better and on the third day it disappeared.

The patient has been depressed since she began seeing me in 1993.

Discharge status: Alive, but without my permission.

Patient has two teenage children, but no other abnormalities.

What did the man say to the x-ray technician after swallowing some coins?
A: "Do you see any change in me?"

Why did the doctor tell his nurse to be very quiet while walking past the supply cabinet?
A: So she wouldn't wake the sleeping pills.

Morris, an 82 year-old man, went to his doctor to get a physical. A few days later the doctor saw Morris walking down the street with a gorgeous young woman on his arm.

During his follow-up visit the following week, the doctor greeted Morris and said, "You're really doing great, aren't you?!"
Morris replied, "Just doing what you said, Doc. Get a hot mamma and be cheerful."
The doctor replied, "I didn't say that. I said, you've got a heart murmur. Be careful!"

Finally, here's your Tip of the Day . . . "Never go to a doctor whose office plants have died." - Erma Bombeck

If these jokes have given you a headache, take two aspirin, and text me in the morning.

    Enjoy your weekend!

It's Friday once again! I hope these jokes will rise to the occasion. I can promise that it's scone to be a lot of fun. I have taken it upon myself to separate the wheat from the chaff in my endless search for the best jokes to start your weekend off with a good belly laugh or two.
I'd batter make this short and swheat before these jokes become stale . . .

What do you call a lawyer who cooks?
    A sue chef.

A famous Italian chef opened a new restaurant to rave reviews.
His revenues amounted to a pretty penne.

Last night I ate a a new restaurant in town, and the food tasted funny.
Turns out they had hired a circus clown as a part time chef.

Our local doughnut shop just recently closed. Turns out the owner got tired of the hole thing.

When baking natural doggie biscuits, make sure you use collie flour.

It was rumored that Shakespeare might have been a baker.
After much research, it was found to be much a-dough about muffin.

Old bakers never retire, they just keep making lots of dough.

Well, that's about it for this Friday. I think I'll quit while I'm on a roll.
    Enjoy your weekend!
