I joined SP last Thursday 10-27-2011. I also joined the 100+ pound in 1 year club. I have dieted myself obese over the past 15 years. It started trying to lose 5 pound, and then 10 and now I need to lose 100 pounds.

My highest weight was 252.0 lbs and on 11-25-07, I started (again) to lose weight. This time it lasted 32 weeks and I lost 68 lbs. I weighed 184 lbs. I can't even remember why I stopped trying, I quickly gained most of it back!
My next diet started 1-24-10 and I weighed 243 lbs. This time it lasted for 26 weeks and I lost 65 lbs. I remember being very excited that I was not obese anymore and only overweight. I started having Gall bladder attacks and had surgery 9-1-10. After I recovered, and was off again and gaining weight.

This time my start weight is 236 lbs. At least I kept off 16 lbs. I am now 64 years old and I think this is my last chance. I know I will make it this time!
I'm going to make to at least a BMI that will put me at a normal weight. That is 149 lbs.

My Goals:
Mini Goals for Losing Weight
#1- I need to lose 20lbs. To lose 1 pant size - 216 lbs. @2 months: December, 27 (Ach

#2- Lose 10% body weight. I read this article that said if you are overweight or obese this will significantly improve your health.
10%- 23.6 lbs. = 212 lbs. (Achieved 12/27/11)

#3- I want to weigh under 200 lbs.

#4- Lose 40 lbs. to a size 18 pant. February 27th (4 month)
196.0 lbs.

#5 - Go from Obese to overweight BMI - 179 lbs.

#6- Lose 60 lbs. to a size 16 pant. April 27th (6 months) 176.0 lbs.

#7- Lose 80 lbs. to a size 14 pant. June 27th ( 8 months)
156.0 lbs.

At some point I shouldn't have to lose 20 lbs. to lose 1 size, but I have no idea if and when that will be.

Personal Information:
My name is Ann and I recently, retired and moved to Virginia from California with my husband, also retired, and 2 cats. We are absolutely in love with Virginia! We've been having a great time explorer our new home state. That's my main reason I know I must be successful this time and lose the weight so we can do all the thinks we want to do.

Thanks for your comments. Yes, I am truly blessed to be able to travel like I do. Having retired from an airline makes things a lot easier and I have so many friends who are of a like mind to travel with. This year I have trips to four different continents planned! Some are with tour companies, some with folks from the airlines and some with just regular friends. I want to travel while I still can. Having my knee replaced in 2008 was a real help.

Where did you live in California? I was in Orange County the entire 30 years. Very glad to have left them behind. I've come to the conclusion that most are nuts! I had a very dear friend I used to visit in Ladysmith VA. exit 110 off 95. She unfortunately passed away this past Thanksgiving, so I won't be making my usual 3-4 trips up there to visit her anymore. And we never did get to Wegmans while she was still alive. Missed out on a great experience I understand!

Continued good luck on your program. I could NEVER do 90 minutes on the treadmill! Keep it up!

I think we may live close to one another. We have similar amounts to lose. Great job on your progress so far and for 64 days on the treadmill. I haven't reached that level of dedication yet, but can't wait til I do!! emoticon

It sounds like you may live fairly close to me. If you do the Dash next year let me know and if you would like, we can meet up. I would love to spend more time and hang out after the race but I carpooled with my friend and her family and they had to rush off to and early dinner. I found the water truck but I never found the after race goodies or got to see the awards given out.

Congrats on the great start you have made. I will be cheering you on all the way to your goal weight next fall! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
