I've lost 25 lbs this year, simply by exercising more and eating less, especially the afternoon sweets I previously couldn't resist. I'm loving shopping for clothes 2 and 3 sizes smaller than what I was wearing last year, and that's motivating me not to gain the weight back as I have in the past. Favorite workout videos are 30 and 45 minute kickboxing and cardio intensive ones. I take my little schnoodle for longer walks; I can't ignore the trash, so we take different routes. Our neighborhood is a little bit cleaner and he enjoys the different p-mail messages:)

My Goals:
1. I want to look and feel GREAT.
2. I want to model healthy habits for my kids.
3. I want to have more energy to do the things I enjoy.

My Program:
I've been walking at least 6 days/week for more than an hour each time. Once I learned I kill more calories/minute biking, I started biking instead of walking when possible. I'm measuring portions - an educational experience for me! I'm finding that I'm feeling full on smaller portions, and I'm focusing on increasing fiber and protein intake.
I'm drinking a lot more water than I ever did before, and it's not a chore any more.
I'm eating more fruit.
I haven't had a soda since Labor Day (and I've resisted several tempting opportunities!).

Personal Information:
I've lived in China with my husband, and Africa with him and our oldest daughter. We've traveled to many countries in-between. I'm an active member of Al-Anon, a 12-step program for people who have been affected by someone else's drinking. The tools I've learned there go a long way toward helping me with my weight-loss goals, like focusing on "one day at a time."
If you're an Al-Anon member, too, I'd love to hear from you.

    Hi there! I am a friend of Lois' and just read your comment about taking a 16 oz bottle of water with you on walks...and am inspired. I take my dog for walks all the time, but I never bring water. I am gonna try it! It sounds like a really great idea. Take care! DZ

    Wow you are really an Expat! As you have already met several of my teammates, I will welcome you again.

    I live in France and have been here since 1989. First Paris, then about 2 hours south with my French husband and dog. Certainly will be here the rest of my life.

    Glad to have you on board. Jump right into the Tea Room and don't mind the ruckus! Just push your way into a prime place.

    We lived in Kaduna and my very first kindergarden was there.
    I am SO in-love-with Beautiful Africa .. its MAGIC!
    My daughter and her family live in Guinea Ecuatorial ... I MISS them LOTS!
