Hi, my name is Amy and losing and gaining weight has been a life time battle. It is emotionally exhausting but I can not stop trying. I am now a post-op sleeve gastrectomy patient. So there is no giving up. I am excited to be on this journey after years of trying traditional weight loss methods. The surgery is a tool, that will help lose and teach me my new life style. I have renewed hope and feel empowered!

My Goals:
My main goal is to be healthy. My husband had a heart scare- two stents placed in arteries and within months lost 30 pounds and runs regularly. I don't want a scare like that to get me moving. So I have no specific goal weight but I do need to drop pounds and increase my activity level. Right now- those are goals I can look at and tend to- anything more and I get overwhelmed and sad- and give up. NOT THIS TIME... no goal deadlines just consistent work on being healthy.

My Program:
Right now, as a post-op patient I am on a bariatric program. I had a sleeve gastrectomy on July 16, 2013. I will use Sparkpeople, as always, to journal.

Personal Information:
I am a mom, a wife and a middle school counselor. I have a wonderful loving family and I am so lucky to love my work.

Other Information:
I believe happiness is a choice and it is up to me to be happy and to create my happiness. Even when misery is lurking, it is my choice to be miserable or to be happy. I consciously choose happiness everyday, and at times it isn't easy but it is better!
