My weight gain came gradually. It took a photo for me to see reality.

I love exercise and doing new things. The Y has been my main place for exercise. While in my 20s I laughed exercise classes at the Y because they weren't intense enough. Now in my 50s, I push myself to keep up!

I have 4 children from teen to adult. I am putting my health first now instead of my kids, hubby or career. In the long run, I will have more energy to give.

Recently, I've started Nordic Walking because I like the inefficiency. That is, it burns more calories than regular walking. It helps my posture, triceps, chest and back along with improving my cardiovascular system and lower body.

I joined the Ohio Challenge 2010 series in the Walking and Weight Loss division. I will be walking (at least) five 5Ks this season.

No, it's not my house. I travelled to Europe this summer and felt very fat. It's a motivational picture for me. I want to travel being normal in size.
The picture is from a small town in Germany named Bacharach. It's a tourist town along the Rhine.
    Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for the blog comm. I know Randy's work well. Read his book and had a friend that attended Carnegie Mellon while he was teaching there. That is flattering.

Thanks for coming by my page and adding me as a friend!

I well know the feeling of being shocked at our actual weight. How is it that pounds pile on and we don't really "see" it even while we're out there buying bigger clothes every year? I don't understand it - I have the same problem now also - don't rally see myself as thin but I prefer this problem to the one where I let things get so out of hand.

Good luck and welcome to sparkpeople! I'm sure you'll find the inspiration and motivation you need here to make your life all that you want it to be.

YOU deserve to be the very best YOU that you can be!!
