My weight gain came gradually. It took a photo for me to see reality.

I love exercise and doing new things. The Y has been my main place for exercise. While in my 20s I laughed exercise classes at the Y because they weren't intense enough. Now in my 50s, I push myself to keep up!

I have 4 children from teen to adult. I am putting my health first now instead of my kids, hubby or career. In the long run, I will have more energy to give.

Recently, I've started Nordic Walking because I like the inefficiency. That is, it burns more calories than regular walking. It helps my posture, triceps, chest and back along with improving my cardiovascular system and lower body.

I joined the Ohio Challenge 2010 series in the Walking and Weight Loss division. I will be walking (at least) five 5Ks this season.

Fitness Minutes: 18,756

My Goals:
Dance, laugh, walk & run with abandonment. I've been working way too hard on the wrong things. I will not put off enjoyment of life any longer!



My Program:
Track everything. YMCA cardio 60-90 minutes at least 4x per week -- includes elliptical, arc trainer, technogym wave, incline walking, and classes. Weight lifting at least 3x per week. Take at least 1 YMCA class per week mixing it up: Spinning, Cardio boxing, Zumba, Interval Blast, Yoga, Core strengthening.



Personal Information:
I am from Ohio. I disguise myself as a house. I was not heavy when I was young but it crept up on me by middle age. Ouch!!


Besides focused fitness activities, my hobbies include:

-hiking

-biking

-downhill skiing

-kayaking

-ice skating

-horseback riding (Missouri foxtrotter)

-motorcycling


Other Information:
I'm inspired by many individuals on SP.

    Thanks for commenting on my blog. I'm proud of all of the exercise I'm doing. I'm playing Biggest Loser, by myself. No competition so I win every weigh in...lol But the show really motivates me to exercise. I do nothing like what they do on the show though. I mostly do aqua exercise and walking.

    I have a distorted body image myself. I think I'm much skinnier than I really am. lol. It's good that we have photographs to remind us.
