I'm getting myself ready for a big road trip. First time I've had to plan for modest mobility and not so great overall health. I'm hoping getting out, relying on myself, going at my own pace, and seeing lots of interesting things I've never had time for will be helpful in changing some habits while I'm on the road. Yes, I know travel is often a contributor to poor behaviors, but really, mine can't get much worse right now!

My Goals:
To be healthier.
To bring my A1c below 6.5.
To be able to hike, just WALK, again without such intense pain.
To live longer than my mother, who died at 60, and my dad, who died at 65.
To bring my weight back down below 200# and keep it there.
To clear the luggage, wreckage, and other errant detritus out of my life. FINALLY.


My Program:
Stick to Sparkpeople. It works. I know it does. It's as healthy as I want to make it. The tools are quite literally at my fingertips. It's up to me to use them.



Personal Information:
Born in Texas. Lived in several states and two other countries. Love our home in Alaska, but have had to move across country for husband's work. Now dealing with homesickness, culture shock, and poorer overall health.


Other Information:
I truly do like walks on the beach and pina coladas, but hikes in the mountains so much more. I live to read and create things with my hands. I'm unable to work these past 3 years because of a crappy disease called Systemic Mastocytosis. Makes me an utterly unreliable employee, much less boss. Still trying to find a way to bring in money while not putting myself in the either the Emergency Room or the Padded Room!

    It’s cold outside, but Spring is coming! Are you ready to join a Challenge? The Biggest Loser Challenge is looking for members for it’s next Challenge starting the first week of March.     Thanks for the blog love and all the comments on my photos! I hope all starts going a bit better for you. When I was put on admin leave prior to being allowed to resign I found that my knitting and weaving and spinning and all things fibery helped a lot.
