BE MORE BORING
I have a hard time slowing down and staying grounded in the present. I'm on autopilot way too often when it comes to my body. I want to get to the point where I am making conscious choices instead of acting out of habit. I want to be happy and at peace right now, while still having goals to get better.

I am learning how to be more boring in all aspects of life, and it is helping me to regain control. I am learning to say NO to myself and others. I am learning how to enjoy routines and stick to a plan. I am learning how to be happy with less and to stop worrying what others think. I am committed to improving my physical, mental and spiritual health everyday.
I love Elizabeth Bishop's sestina about losing that starts with "the art of losing isn't hard to master." I also love a quote from Alice Walker that goes "Let us be our revolution: to love what is plentiful instead of what is scarce." I am doing this differently this time. I am letting go of things one at a time. No more alcohol. No more sugar. No more rushing to travel when I need to stay home and take care of myself.

My Goals:
June 2013: I want to feel healthy. I want to stop binging and make exercise a priority. I'd like to be able to buy clothes on the "normal" side and get back into the 16's and 14's in my closet. I have a secret desire to participate in a triathlon.
July 2015: I never did meet my goal of getting under 200 pounds and then getting out of the obesity range, but I've had a difficult few years, so I am happy with not gaining weight. I'm striving for moderation and a healthy lifestyle. I'd like to be able to run a mile in under 10 minutes and keep trying new forms of exercise.
My Program:
June 2013: I don't work for the summer, and I decided to focus on my body. I do nordic walking in the morning, and either walk a second time or swim in the afternoon. I started taking a yoga class. I avoid sugar and alcohol and try not to snack. I'm doing great, but I am nervous about what is going to happen once I go back to work.
July 2015: I swim in the morning, then go back to the gym mid-afternoon to lift or run. I decided to hire a personal trainer to help me with lifting and to help me keep the intensity up once I go back to work in August. She's making me drink more water, run intervals and work on flexibility. I notice that when I exercise I eat better. I'm still completely sugar free, but I still have problems with binge eating. I've gone back and forth about drinking, but right now I am avoiding alcohol and bread. Developing a lifestyle I am happy with is more important than losing more weight, although I would still like to weigh what I am supposed to w
Personal Information:
I am a teacher working in an American school in Spain. I am trying to make a healthy life while living abroad. I enjoy traveling, reading, participating in Toastmasters, watching movies and documentaries, running, swimming and (this is new) lifting at the gym. I may never be thin, but I am determined to be strong in all areas of my life.
