Hello! I am Suzanna from South Carolina. I can not believe I have been a member of Sparkpeople since 2007! How come I don't have this all figured out by now? How come I am not at my goal weight? I am at least heading in the right direction (FINALLY). What a battle (and I THOUGHT childbirth was hard!). This year has been a turning point for me. In April I really thought I was going to die from obesity. I felt so bad all the time and I completely hated myself. I was so tired of trying and failing and didn't have the energy to try again. I was giving up. I couldn't tie my shoes, walk around the block, look in a mirror or take my picture with my daughter. When I visited my doctor b/c I thought I'd had a heart attack she encouraged me to give it one more try. I don't know why this time is different then before. I don't have any ah-ha moments... I have just stuck with it this go around and pray that I continue to do so.

My Goals:
I guess my biggest goal is to make life style changes and then STICK TO THEM! My newest goal is to be more active with this website. To learn from others and maybe even help one or two people along the way. I want to make writing blogs part of my routine. Other goals are to lose another 25 pounds and then decide from there where I am going or what I want to do. I want to walk/run a full marathon in January 2013. This January, I am walking a half marathon and I don't want to just stop there.

My Program:
I do not have any 'program' I'm doing, like Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig. I am doing my own thing and SO FAR that seems to be working. Hopefully it will continue to work for me b/c I am not very good at being consistant with following someone else's 'rules'. I use the Spark APP and log all my food. Even when I don't do well. I try my best to keep my calories under 1500 (lately it's been between 1500 & 1800... which I'm not to happy about). I HAVE to keep track of my food otherwise I do terrible. I try and eat healthy and make wise choices but if there is something I really want I will go ahead and have it... I just have to write it down. I exercise every day. Nothing hard core (I like easy). I walk and I do Curves. That's about it. Once a week I do a really LONG walk (between 10 & 13 miles) but all the other days I do between 3 & 5 miles. I try and do Curves 3x a week. I TRY not to miss more then a day of walking. If I can't walk I try and do something else.

Personal Information:
First thing I would want someone to know about me is I am a struggling Christian. I say that because it is always my desire to do good and be the kind of person Jesus wants me to be but I fail miserably . I am so glad HE loves me anyway! I am married to a great guy who is a pilot. I have two wonderful kids, Angela and Ayana. Angela is married with two kids and Ayana is wanting to be married with two kids. :-)

Other Information:
I love movies. Mostly romantic comedies. I like to read but it always makes me sleepy so I don't get much reading in. I am a caregiver. During the week I work at a Christian daycare with newborn babies (up to 6 months old) and on the weekends I take care of an eldery couple (in their 90s)

    Hey Suzanna, Good luck on your return to work. I am a big procrastinator too. Hopefully, the routine of work will help us iin our fitness and eating. I am going to really try to make time for myself when I return to work in September. I have been exercising and watching my food. I have lost a few. How are you doing? Have a good week!Elaine

    I think your story resonates with so many of us! That's one reason I love SP is that it's about so much more than losing weight! I'm so happy with myself tonight because I'm away from home in a hotel and I actually made time to go down to the gym and use the treadmill to get in my steps! Welcome to the 10,000 steps group!     Hi Suzanna, I had a good weekend , my eatinfg was good until Sunday, It was my birthday and friends and family , bought me some drinks and birthday desserts at both lunch and dinner. I really did not get much exercise in aside from walking, but I am home now and ready to exercise and refocus.
    Did you walk with your dogs this weekend? That is great exercise for the both of you. i think weighing yourself twice a week is good as long as you be careful that you don't let it get you down if you fluctuate.
    I am glad to hear that you don't smoke any longer. You must have had great will power to accomplish breaking the habit! I don't smoke I did for a very short time when I was 18 ( a long long time ago LOL)and in college but stopped when I was getting bronchitis
