Hi! After a long absence from Sparkpeople.com, I am back! It really does help to log my food and exercise daily, and to give and receive the group support. I am still maintaining an 85-90 pound weight loss and working towards getting about 50 more pounds off, to improve my health and decrease my arthritis pain. Retirement life is great, but the slower pace and less physical exercise than I got on the job is not! Time to step it up a bit!

My Goals:
My goals for 2015 are to build muscle to help repair my very low metabolism, to learn to enjoy eating less and moving more, and to reach a weight that is significantly below 200 lbs. for the first time in 33 years!


My Program:
As a post-metabolic surgery patient now off all medications, I aim for 90 - 100 grams of protein a day and avoid sugar and flour items. I attend support meetings weekly and enjoy swimming and walking for exercise. I'd love to lose another 55 pounds but until then, I accept my best efforts and rejoice in the recovery I have been given so far.



Personal Information:
I am 62 years old and in pretty good health, enjoying my second year of retirement. I live in Michigan and I still love winter! I enjoy making cards, reading, volunteering in a kindergarten class and at church, and staying in touch with friends.


Other Information:
One of my favorite quotes is this:

"I view recovery as a process a way of life, tiny increments like baby steps...If I become overwhelmed, I ask myself 'Can I just do this today?'

For me, Sparkpeople.com helps me do it for one more day at a time.
