Good morning. Thanks for the comment on my blog this morning. About two weeks before I got started on my walkway, I sprayed ground kill over the entire area and waited for it to die. Once it got all crusty and dead, I just scalped the top layer off so it was mostly just dirt. Then I sprayed it one more time. Then I laid down heavy duty weed guard and placed the rock over the top of that. That's pretty much what I did to my rock patio area that is adjacent to the walkway. I did that about 10 years ago and it's still holding back the weeds. I get a lot of johnny jump ups popping up everywhere but that is everywhere in my yard. They are kind of pretty so I don't mind. If they get too out of control, I just go around and pull them up. They don't need much of a root system to grow so they don't even penetrate the weed guard. They just grow above the rocks. I think the important thing is to make sure you have the existing ground cover completely killed. It looks pretty ugly for a week or so but you have to be patient and make sure its all dead before you start landscaping it. At least that is my tactic. I'm not a landscaper so there might be a better way, but this works for me. Enjoy working in your yard. It's good exercise.

Thank you for the supportive comment today. You gave me some good advice. Sometimes it does a person good to step outside and get a better view. There are things I do right and a lot I apparently do wrong. I guess that is what the journey is all about....finding what works best for the individual. Sorry it was such a negative blog though. I do try to be a positive person because negativity just drags a person down. Anyway, thank you for the support and I really do appreciate you. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Hope the rain lets up some.

I made it back from vacation and had an awesome time with all my kids and grandkids. I see you went to the zoo today. Hope you had a good time. We stopped at the zoo in Omaha on our trip back home, but it was almost too hot to really enjoy seeing anything. Got a lot of walking in though. Hope your day at the zoo wasn't too hot. I bet your granddaughter loved it there. Good times!!!
