I've been in Japan for 24 years. 52 years old with 4 kids. I LOVE rollerskating (NYC style) and Zumba. I lost alot of weight in 2008, butsome of it crept back on. It wasn't a rebound, it was more a matter of not taking the time out to make my healthy meals. That seems to be my key to keeping the energy up. My goal is in sight.

Japan has healthy food, but my area uses alot of sugar and white rice. I am using local ingredients and arranging them in a way that works for me. With coconut oil, olive oil. Greens. Brown rice in moderation. One good thing that as a large family, we never use prepared foods. Everything is home cooked. We live Japanese style with my husband's extended family, so it is alot of work. My daughters love my healthy meals. But the inlaws like the traditional fare.

My Goals:
Now at 53, reached my goal and my new goal is just to keep on keeping on!!! It is so easy because I have been clean eating for a year and feel fabulous. I don't miss sugar or wheat, and have substituted far better things. The difference is amazing.

My Program:
No sugar, no fast carbs. Lots of veggies, brown rice, nuts, tofu, fish, chicken, apples. Don't want to go too long between meals so have added healthy snacks. Exercise lately is my dance classes that I teach (in the village), inline skating uphill in 10 to 15 minute spurts, and pilates. I have very little free time but the spurts are doing the job.

Personal Information:
From NYC, auditioned for a dance skate show in Japan 26 years ago. Have been here ever since.
4 kids! Artist, music lover. Teach a dance exercise class in my village.

Other Information:
If I lived alone I could control my diet well...I like vegetarian food and good stuff. But here I cook for a family of 8 who love to eat full course, Japanese style but heavy on the sugar and salt.

    Thanks for posting on my spark page recently. I was so excited about creating a goal to become a dancer (for hobby and health) and you were kind enough to encourage me - I appreciate it! Two days after your comment, I fell off of steps and broke my foot - little delay on my dancer drreams! So I am focusing on increasing my upper body strength (which is terrible), flexibility and diet. I started Nurti System today to try to help me control weight gain during my recovery.

    It is so cool that you went to Japan and never left! I studied a little of the language in college and really enjoyed the culture. I love that Zumba is there - give it a little time and I promise a certification class will come to Japan...they are making it around the world!

    Hi Thanks for posting on my sparkpage! Ive lost about 70 pounds so far and have 25 to go. I've been yo-yo'ing up and down 5-7 pounds for about the past year (UGH!!) I'm hoping to get going this summer and finally reach goal! Have a great day!
