    Hey there SPARKler. Since you asked, I just posted a blog with A ECIPES for both my SPICY CUCUMBER AVOCADO SOUP. and FRESH GARDEN GAZPACHO Both really yummy and quite pretty served one floating on the other! Enjoy!

    I saw your comment on the LC team about Swerve and tummy ache. I have switched from swerve brand to the NOW foods brand and I like it better. I have also picked up a tip from the baking blog, lowcarbmaven, who indicates that she doesn't use more than about 1/3 cup of erythitol in a recipe and will add a bit of stevia glycerite to balance it. I actually ordered some monk fruit powder and intend to do a similar thing. If I actually substitute Swerve cup for cup of sugar in a recipe I have trouble. I hope maybe this helps you still be able to bake a treat once in awhile without the digestive troubles.

    2000-April 16 - weight 254.3. Joined Weight Watchers and lost 40 pounds.
    2001-July 27- weight 214.3. Husband died. Lost 10 pounds because I forgot to eat.
    2001- September:weight 204.3. Injured back, right hip and right knee. Unable to get diagnosis or treatment. I keep falling when knee goes out on me.
    2001-April 2005 took care of Mom
    2004 - Weight 235. one year of pain management and told to join a gym. Personal trainer called my doc and said I need to see an specialist about my knee because I can't do weight bearing exercise.
    2005-June Had exploratory knee surgery and found dislocated knee. Had a lateral release.
    2005-2009 April took care of Mom and then Mom died, age 94.
    2009-time to take care of Martha. Keep falling on my stairs. Need to ditch stairs if I can't get my knee fixed.

    Happy New Year and congrats on taking the first step to reaching a healthier you! I'm glad you're intro message worked this time AND glad you're getting active with SparkPeople - it's a great community, wonderful resources and fantastic support.

    In my experience, SparkPeople is like a emoticon in some ways - it's lots of fun and easy to make friends because we're all in this together. I like the way a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE is emphasized instead of a 'quick fix wonder diet' - it's about waaaaaay more than 'just' losing weight so you have definitely come to the right place!


    If you ever need any help using features of the site, there are tutorial videos under the HELP section that can show you how to use the features of the site. You can also find them on the START page and several other places on the site.


    If you haven't discovered The Spark book and/or the SparkDiet linked at the bottom of the START page, check them out - the program is simple but extremely effective. There is a TON of information on this site - so much it might even seem overwhelming but fortunately we don't have to 'digest' everything at once! The FastBreak program is a good way to start.


    Another nice thing about SparkPeople is that we have permission to be human - we don't have to change everything at once or be in a hurry to reach our goals. Take a few baby steps and then a few more and before you know it, you'll have completed a long journey - I hope you enjoy this community as much as I do - it teaches us how to make positive lifetime changes because that's the only thing that will work over time!
