Update: April 1, 2012

Nope, no April Fool's joke: I'm starting another 90 challenge! (Why would I joke about that, anyway??) Actually, today is day 2 of that! I'm a part of a group that has 90 day challenges going on ALL the time! It's a GREAT motivator! If you'd like to join, let me know!

Update: Feb. 11, 2012

I've now been married for 7 1/2 months, and still love my best friend (whew, that's good, right??). However, the stresses of life are about to kill us BOTH! (Namely: his children.) We continue to pray, seek Godly council and hope that it doesn't make us go crazy!

Other than that, I'm struggling to get my working life in order (there are just NO teaching positions in this area!) and find the direction God would have me go in. I'm still learning what it means to be HEALTHY, what it means to be a GODLY WIFE, and continue on my journey as a mom and step mom. *whew!* That's a lot on my plate!

Oh my goodness, so many changes, so little time!

As of yesterday, I've been married for 3 months, and I'm totally LOVING it! I have a wonderful husband, and I have moved to Lewiston, Idaho. The area is nice, I've found a great church group, and although there's always bumps in the road, it's been a great move.

I need to start up again, but having a hard time getting to the computer, but I know I need to input my calories. Staying relatively active, but need to get on a schedule. There's the goals, now I need to make a plan! :D

My boyfriend Dan has proposed, and I said YES! We're getting married on June 23, 2011. So I'm HUGELY in the middle of packing my home & classroom, looking for a job, and planning a (small, simple) wedding. PHEW! Can I count those as SP activity points?!?!? lol....

Last week I finished the Seattle Rock n Roll 1/2 Marathon. It wasn't "pretty," nor completely what I expected. But it's done, and over with, and now I'm looking forward to 2 more before the year is out!

Update: May 29, 2010 -

It's less than a month until my very first 1/2 marathon! I'm super excited! I know that I won't break any records other than my OWN! Since it's my first, it's a PR for me!

Lately I've been thinking a lot about my mom - and missing her. I'm doing this in her memory. I've realized that I'm a pretty strong person on the outside, but still mush internally. That's ok - inside and out, I'm a work in progress....

Update - February 2010:

I'm doing a 1/2 marathon on June 26, 2010 in Seattle with Team in Training. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Team in Training group! And did I mention that my Saturday time with TNT is MY TIME! It's beyond great.

And I'm growing. I'm learning how to be an endurance runner, and I'm learning to push myself where I've never gone before. However, I'm not doing so hot on the scale. I'm toning up - I can see that...but I don't know how to feed a runner's body. That's my next hurdle to overcome. Because the scale is not showing any changes in a positive direction, and I don't want to take all 185 lbs. with me to Seattle. Urg!

Update - December 2009:
With my Sparkversary just days away, I'm ready for a new start. Mom passed away about a month ago, and although there are days where I want to just sleep the day away, I'm finding out that I need to challenge myself. Because I can be so competitive, I need an ongoing challenge - small goals, slightly out of reach, but attainable.
I'm on break from school (I'm a teacher), and I VOW to use these next 10 school days (total of 15 days off) to be the best that I can be! Results to follow....
Update - November 2009:
My mom passed away early on Nov. 12, 2009. I'm slowly moving back into the world of the "living" and that also means that I'm starting to get back into my normal, healthy lifestyle. Not that I ever moved too far away from it, just slacked back on the exercise. I can't say "I'm BACK" yet...but I am signed up for a 5k on Dec. 5th. That's really helped me get my butt back on the treadmill. It helps a little with the mourning, but not a lot.

Update - August 4, 2009:
My mom is diagnosed with lung cancer (Oct. 08) and has 2-6 months to live. It's spread to many parts of her body, and we want to spend as much quality time with her as possible.

As of this moment, I'm taking (some) care of her, a single mom with two kids, about ready to start a new school year (I teach) AND we're in the process of moving. If that's not enough, I have much more to tell you about. So I took stock in my priorities: God, family, work, moving, me (in that order). Yes, I'm last again, but at least I made the list this time! There's a lot that didn't.

So I'm still making the "better choice" in food, and exercising more as a way to help the stress level, not so much for intensity and praying that we all get through this (I know somehow we will, it's just bleak right now). I'm sorry this sounds more like a blog than an intro, but that's just what's on my mind right now.

SPARK PEOPLE IS AWESOME! I have made some FABULOUS friends that I've met only online AND in person. They are awesome and very supportive, so I know I'm in the right spot, and SP will be here when I get back. I'm not leaving for good, and I'll check in from time to time, but just not everyday like I have been.

So for all of you - fight the good fight, make the better choice and keep in touch!

I have a lot of knowledge about HOW I should eat and HOW I should exercise...but until recently, I haven't seriously applied that knowledge to myself. I never thought that I used food as a "drug," but I completely admit to loving food! I just need to get used to the fact that I don't need mass quantities of it!

Summer Goals:

1. Overall: lose 20 lbs. by the time I go back to school (late Aug).

2. Exercise 4-5 days a week...preferably 5-6.

3. TRACK MY STINKIN' FOOD! This is KEY for me, but I still struggle....

My Goals:
I want to complete a marathon. This year I will be doing a 1/2 Marathon on June 26th with Team in Training. One step closer....
I'm completely inspired by "The Biggest Loser," but realize that those people on the ranch have an amazing "not-like-home" experience!

So my goals are small, but reasonable: track my food & exercise 5-6 days a week to lose approx. 1 lb. (a week).

My Program:
Originally, I was doing Weight Watchers, but I had a big problem paying for something I should be doing myself (tracking my intake and outgoing calories).

Jan. '09: I'm finding that I'm still having a hard time tracking my calories, so I'm rededicating myself to it because after a TON of cardio, I'm still holding myself back.

May '09 - I'm realizing that I don't have to be a food/calorie Nazi. I can have sweets - IN MODERATION. This is hard when I had an "all or nothing" mentality.

June '09 - I need to go back to the food/calorie Nazi! I am not able to have sweets & crap-food in moderation. I know I should be able to, but I'm just not "there" yet....

I love to read - which doesn't motivate me to move very much! I'd rather curl up on the couch with a snack! But I only watch TV (usually TiVo'ed shows) when I'm on the treadmill!
