Where I am going…

UPDATE: 8/25/2010 - Sorry, I was MIA for awhile. I became too "comfortable." Maintained my weight, but stopped chasing my ultimate goals. I needed to get my head on straight and regain motivation. I came to the difficult realization that perhaps I give up too easily. I put my needs in the backseat. Plus I have a tendancy to set big goals, and skip the smaller steps. What can I say…out of the strengths I have, patience is not one.

I am working to overcome my bad habit of self comparison. I tend to benchmark by my peers, which is not a true reflection of MY progress, as our goals are not the same. For me the journey is not exclusively about weight, or my relationship with food. It is also about developing the tools, habits, and confidence to strengthen who I am. To appreciate and love my body while focusing on what I want to achieve, instead of what I have not. Consistently being patient with myself, reasonable in my expectations, and more committed to the process.

I am a 29 year old single mother, to an awesome 8 year old boy. I would like to lose another 30lbs and work on overall toning. Manage the jiggle enough to dance around in my swimming suit and not think twice about how I look. I want to be carefree, and able to jump head long into the activities and life I love. I have been working my way back into running and biking. Added a new task to the agenda, joining a Karate black belt program with my son. To mix it up added Brazilian Jui Jitsu and kick boxing to push beyond my comfort zone. Hands down best work out EVER!

In the past I have been a pro at making all sorts of excuses as to why I don’t have time to make working out a consistent part of my routine. You know the drill….never enough money, time, and energy…Bottom line today is the only day we know we have for sure, so enjoy it! I have to make myself and my health a priority. If you want something bad enough you will make it happen, and create plan to eliminate (or work around) the roadblocks. This is a journey I am making for myself and those I love. I deserve balance, health, and happiness. I will do the work to make it happen. I hope to be on my way to goal by the time my 30th birthday rolls around in May 2011. Keep me honest!

2009: I have taken up running, finishing my first 5k in October 2009.

Fall 2007: Hello! I am 27 year old full-time marketing guru, grad student, and mother of a wonderful 6 year old boy. I have less than a year left of grad school so let the count down begin! My goal is to lose 40 lbs by next May.

I gained 70lbs between my pregnancy and my subsequent divorce. It was not just a shift in my weight but in my attitude. I have some work to do. I have lost a total of 40 lbs over the last few years, and I am ready to kick it into high gear and shed up to another 50 lbs.

170 is my first goal, then I would like to drop down to around 160 or 150 depending on what feels right.

Take the time to respect my body and my self image.

Buy the cute clothes I want to wear not the ones that fit!

Typical week I am doing some variation of the following...

Monday: Running (30 min) and Yoga/Abs/Pilates (60min)

Tuesday: Karate (1hr) and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (1hr)

Wednesday: Running (30 min) and Yoga/Abs/Pilates (60min)

Thursday: Karate (1hr) and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (1hr)

Friday: Running (30 min)

Saturday: Kickboxing (60min)

Sunday: Hiking/Biking, 30 Day Shred or other DVD
