Be Positive! Be Strong! Be Confident! Be Committed!
I am an American rockabilly girl living in Sweden. I am 44 years young. I am married with no children. I have an amazing husband whom I adore. Over the years I have become lazy and very unfit. So now it's time for me to make the hard changes in my life so that I can be healthy! I'm motivated and determined to get fit (which also means losing weight) and live a long and healthy life with the greatest man I've ever known!

I live a Rockabilly lifestyle. I love the music, cars, fashion and dances of the 50's! I build custom cars and hot rods with my husband Klaus. I love being in the garage wrenching on an engine or welding a frame. I love being Klaus' wife! It's the best job I've ever had, or probably ever will have. My husband appreciates me and TELLS me everyday. He loves the food I cook - so therefore I love to cook! I like doing the housework - probably because he notices even the small things I do to make our home comfy, clean and safe. We have three cars ('53 Chevy, '31 Ford AA, '50 Shoebox) but probably a few more will pop up in the garage in the near future. I love tattoos - I have a small but growing collection of 10. Aiming for fitters arms for that half sleeve on BOTH arms.
I can't stand complainers! OMG! Shut up already! You didn't get fat overnight! You're not gonna get thin overnight either! And as you can tell I'm not afraid to stand up to a complainer and tell them to get real! We all have the same struggles so unless you're willing to do the work (all of it) ... shut up!
I'm passionate about everything I do, think and believe. What's the use in doing it if you're not passionate about it??? I used to think that I hated exercising - hence getting fat and unfit - but the fact WAS that I was lazy and didn't want to do the work. I've found a new passion ... it's about getting fit and healthy.
Well, I've reached a milestone that I'm rather proud of! I am OFFICIALLY within a healthy BMI of 24.9 as of March 11th weigh in! Just by the skin of my teeth ... but it's only going down from here! I've lost 28 pounds and 21.25 inches in total measurements in three months. Trust me when I say ... I GOT THIS! I feel great, I'm looking much better and I am excited about my new lifestyle!
Today, March 25th marks my sixteenth week on SparkPeople! Wow, how time flies when you're focused and committed! I'm having a great time, I've met some amazing people who have supported and motivated me to being as successful as I've been thus far. I've learned a ton about nutrition, fitness, health and myself. I'm getting closer, everyday, to my goal. I feel great, I'm stronger, I'm more fit, I'm losing inches and I'm gaining confidence with every pound and inch I lose. Thanks to all of you who have helped me on this amazing journey! I can honestly say I couldn't have been this successful without your friendship and support!
After vacation in May I seemed to be in a weight loss holding pattern. I haven't been over 170 since mid May and I've stayed at 168 for three weeks. Since I wasn't losing anything I decided to try a little maintenance and it worked. So now that it's July ... I've got to start working it out again to get down to goal weight.

My Goals:
My goal is to drop 50 pounds, by spring 2009. DONE! Now I just have to work hard to get down to goal weight and then stay there!
I've learned what I need to learn to live and eat in a healthy way. But let's not kid ourselves ... it requires exercise, daily!
I've lost 50 pounds since January 2009 and I feel great. These last 10-15 pounds are definitely the most stubborn, but I'm no stranger to hard work and dedication ... so I have to stay motivated and committed to reach goal weight.
My Program:
I am working out at home. And I'm living proof that you don't have to join a gym to lose weight and get fit. All you need are some hand weights, resistance bands, a ball, a yoga mat, a DVD player and some DVD's and the great outdoors (or indoors if you prefer)!
I strive for 2 hours of cardio a day and strength training in rotation everyday, first upper body then lower body and core everyday.
I'm not on a diet, diets don't work for me in the long run. I knew that I'd have to learn how to eat in a healthy way with everything I love. My skinny husband shouldn't suffer because I gained weight! So nothing was forbidden or off limits - there were chips and candy and a little alcohol whenever I felt like it ... but the key was and will always be ... in moderation.
Personal Information:
I was born in South Jersey (YES! I'm a Jersey Girl!) I've lived all over the US. I've lived in Sweden for 7 years, and I love it. Europe is definitely where I consider HOME now, even though I'll always be proud to be an American!
I am not a normal "girl" ... I'm a grease monkey, car building, sewing, baking, makeup wearing Rockabilly chick! I'm a girly Tom Boy and I love it! I love being in the garage equally as much as I love being in the kitchen! The greatest job I've ever had or will have is being a good old fashioned wife to my amazing husband!
Klaus and I travel the world in our custom '53 Chevy looking for the wildest parties and coolest car shows in the world, so maybe one day we'll run into you ... somewhere!
