Here I am again. One of these days I will write down the number of times my weight has been drastically up and down. Twice I thought I had conquered my appetite demon. (Deep sigh.) Not so. One time I kept the weight off for five years.

Stress is my trigger. I can lose the weight and keep it off until life's circumstances change. A move, changing jobs, the death of a friend are all examples of things that have thrown a wrench in my healthy eating and exercise routines.

It is time to exorcise this demon. I am tired of having three sizes of clothes in my closet to ensure I have something to wear. I want to be an attractive older woman. I want to be healthy and high energy, productive, and adventurous.

I am good at learning new things. Last summer I taught myself to knit, and I am obsessed. I just gave away my first baby blanket at a shower last week. It wasn't flawless knitting, but I was proud of it.

I have just started learning how to style my hair. It's long now. I always wanted to have long hair, but I never knew how to take care of it. I have found some websites that are helping me with that, and I am having a lot of fun with it.

I want to focus my attention on activities like these, and swimming, bike riding, walking the dog, camping, hiking, gardening, housework....I have plenty of things I can do. I don't need to sit in front of the TV and eat.

Weigh 180pounds by June 1, 2019.
Swim 1/4 mile, 2 times a week.
Strength train 3 times a week.
Walk the dog 2 times a week.
Walk 50 minutes twice a week.

My Program:
I am tracking my food, eating 1200-1500 calories a day.
I am swimming 2 times a week, a quarter mile a day.
I am going to the gym 3 times a week.
I walk the dog twice a week for 45 minutes.

I am a Star Trek fan. I love all of it, but my favorite is still the original series.

    I was so excited to hear from you on SP today! Does this mean you are back to Sparking more? How have you been? Not seen much of you on FB either! I assume you are just really busy with summer. New living arrangements take a lot to get used to.
    I am going to try to make my own veggie burgers using the recipe that FatManRants has on his FB page via a video. I'm not a fan of the grocery store, frozen ones due to unhealthy additives but they do in a pinch. The homemade ones are baked, or pan-fried in a non-stick skillet, then you can grill them for the "feel" if you want...or not.
    That's awesome that your niece trying to eat such stuff! I hope that is going well!

    Oh glad that you are still here -- that's great about the new kitty. I've been trying to talk my mom into getting a new cat -- one of theirs escaped the house last year never to be seen again. Poor thing. This has been quite a year. As if there wasn't enough crazy things happening, my company decided to close our department in the spring with no warning whatsoever -- sadly, all of my colleagues ended up moving to new states for new jobs, as did I. Although I landed back in Tucson -- I lived here for 12 years previously and loved it. It's a great job, but it was quite a shake-up this year. I feel like I'm finally settling down a bit, but I will feel more settled once I find a house to buy and can get all my stuff out of storage from ABQ. Luckily, my house sold very quickly in ABQ. This job opportunity popped up right at the most perfect time too -- I'd say someone was looking out for me. :-) Hope you are well and happy holidays. I'm planning to be a more steady presence here at Sparkpeople again.

    Yeah, that music group is not one I listen to. Too hard rock for me. My tastes are more like yours. That lyric line about depression really nailed it in my mind as well. I've really discovered that my weight issue is just a symptom of emotional issues, really. When you struggle with things like depression or low self-worth, it's too easy to wrap yourself up in a cocoon of food and inactivity. Thankfully, I have learned to deal with both and am emerging, although there are often set-backs. Just doing the cha-cha forward. LOL.
