doing it for my kids
doing it for my sweetheart
doing it for myself

People talk about their 'Aha' moment. I don't have one. Don't get me wrong. There have certainly been times in my life when it became glaringly obvious to me that I had to do something about my health. Times when some one would say something completely inappropriate. Times when I would be just plain fed up with myself. But there wasn't just a SINGLE time.

All I know is that one day I started this journey of single steps. One day I got up with the focus and drive to lead a healthier life. That one day turned into two, and then three, and so on. I've been focusing on making healthier decisions for around nine months now. I've been using SparkPeople to help me achieve my goals for a little over four of those months.

Some days are better than others (isn't that true for everybody?). But I've come to realize that the only thing that can truly keep me from my goals is if I don't try. So every day I'm trying. And every day I'm getting closer.

Even though some days are not so great, every day I try to stay motivated. I try to speak kindly to myself. I try to speak positively about this journey I'm making (even if, at that moment, I feel like I'm standing still or even moving backward). I've found that keeping this positive attitude, even at times when I have to force it, has helped me.

This time, for the first time, my destination seems attainable. And being able to really BELIEVE that this journey, this change, is possible has made all the difference for me.
