I'm Rambler61, from California and living in Tokyo for the moment. My health coach suggested this website, so I poked around and decided to join. I need to lose 20-23kg, but would really like to lose 7-8 kg by my daughter's wedding mid August. I've been running since early 2008, hit and miss. I brought it up a notch from May of last year and took it up another notch from September. Until the Earthquake in Japan, I was running 25 miles/40km a week, but not losing much if any weight, and having to take ibuprofen for pain most days of the week due to too much concentration of my miles (like 3-4 days off due to business travel and then 3-4 days of pushing hard to reach the 25-28 mile goal). I also have a lot of stress in my work, and ended up with an ulcer. The pain of the ulcer made me want to constantly keep something in my stomach, which helped keep the pain at bay. Doc gave me some PPIs for the acid which has helped, but during the earthquake crisis I found myself stress eating/grazing and gained back what I lost since September. So now the ulcer is under control, I need to ramp up my exercise again, but slowly and carefully to avoid pain, which in turn helps avoid the ibuprofen.

So, a journey begins. Time to buckle down and eat healthier in addition to the exercise, and maybe that will help get the weight off.
