In August 2010, my dream came true when I gave birth to my beautiful son. I had a pretty good pregnancy, although I ate terribly and did not exercise very much. I also gained around 40 pounds. I lost most of the weight pretty quickly but my body is stubbornly holding onto the last 7-10 pounds. It's time for me to get recommitted to being healthy and getting these annoying pounds off that prevent me from feeling good in my clothes and out of them. I gain a lot of inspiration from other people's Spark Pages so thank you everyone for that! :-)

APRIL 23, 2010 UPDATE - I am now 21 weeks pregnant and totally excited about the future. Pregnancy hasn't been easy but I think I've had it way better than others. I struggle to eat healthy with the sweet cravings I have that are almost out of control sometimes. I do try harder some days than others to control that urge to eat sweets all day. I feel like I've gained more weight than I should but there is nothing I can do about that than to keep trying to focus on eating healthier. I want to be a better Mom now while my baby boy is still in my tummy and part of that is being healthy. I was unable to work out for most of my first trimester and since then I've tried to incorporate more exercise using prenatal videos and walking. Exercise feels awesome! Although I can't believe how much harder it is while pregnant. I'll be back to SP more regularly after baby comes to help me get the weight back off. Baby's due date is August 29th.

DECEMBER 22, 2009 UPDATE - I'm pretty much starting over with weight loss after life threw me a major curve ball this year. I was extremely blessed with pregnancy only to lose my baby 4 months later. I am healing but have lost much of the determination and desire to eat healthy. At least I am now bouncing back with my work outs but still have some ground to make up. With God's help, I will recover and be better than ever. I refuse to give up.

FEBRUARY 26, 2009 UPDATE - I'm working hard to eat healthy more consistently. It is quite a challenge! The secret for my success is PLANNING my meals. I struggled a lot after the holiday's were over and saw my weight slowly start creeping back up. But I think I'm finally getting back on track. I'm at a stage where I could somewhat maintain but since I know I still have some bad eating habits to kick, I know that I could still lose a couple more pounds.

OCTOBER 16, 2008 UPDATE - I am down 9 pounds since I started Spark People on July 15th. I reached my 7 pound goal at the end of September. YEAH! I'd like to lose 3 more pounds and then maintain. These last 3 pounds are quite a challenge for me!

JULY 2008: I have gained about 10 pounds in the last couple years and I'm finally ready to nip this in the bud before it gets completely out of control. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in the spring of 2007 and was finally able to get my levels back to normal this spring. I'm sure I could credit that for part of my weight gain as well as getting older, etc, etc. But no more excuses! It is within my power to get healthy! At 36 years of age, I realize it's not going to get any easier so there's no time like the present.

I am disciplined with exercising but not so disciplined around the sweets. I have never in my life paid much attention to what I ate and felt that I could eat anything I wanted as long as I was exercising. However that incorrect mentality is catching up with me. I never dreamed I would become a calorie counter but have found that is what I need to do to get myself started on the path to a healthier life. Spark People has opened my eyes to see how much I was actually over-eating.

I have found so much inspiration to make positive changes in my life through this website. I'm so excited to reach my goals and be healthier than I've ever been.

I know that with God's help, I can do anything! I am hoping that God will be able to use me to help or inspire others as I know my life is not just about me.

My Goals:
I'd like to change my eating habits to get more balanced meals. I've got to cut down the sweets substantially and pay attention to my calorie and protein intake.

My Program:
- Work out at least 5 times a week

- Push myself harder in my workouts. I know I'm capable of doing more than I let myself think sometimes.

- Stay within my calorie range at least 6 days a week.

- Focus on my walk with God and please Him while doing this the right way.

Other Information:
God gave me a second chance at love in my life and I couldn't be happier with the wonderful man I married on April 28, 2008. I'm so glad that he loves me just the way I am.

    Ahhh so happy to hear from you!! Sounds like your little is the light of your days with a sweet spirit. I'm so happy to hear that. Are you working still? How is your husband? Anything else new?

    I hear you re: the food intake being a problem - that's about where I"m at too though it's easier to eat well now that I"m beyond that terrible first trimester!!

    We are now living in Pittsburgh temporarily, then on to our permanent home (wherever that will be) with our next move. My husband is nearly done with training - yay! - and then we can finally really settle down. Baby is great (almost 2!!), dog and cat are about the same, I am working full time from home, a rather strange but satisfying job, but I hope to decrease my hours after the baby #2 is born.

    I don't have a ton else to add - mentally/emotiotionally I'm in a good place after a very, very rough year. Actually I should post about that sometime soon. As we all know emotional health is just as important as physical health!
