My husband and I have decided it's time for a change. We're heading closer to retirement and want to lead more healthy, active lives. For some reason changing eating habits leads to other changes which is such an awesome thing. Ripple effect is happening! Growing never stops!
I see changes each day and am so glad to have Spark in my life! Yeah!

While spending the day with our daughter I realized that my old comfort zone just wasn't comfortable anymore and there has to be more and more changes. I used to look forward to going out to eat and that was the sum total of what we would do. Now I want to do ever so much more. See new things and try new activities and just MOVE! Never to late to change but sooner is better than later!

Walking is now part of my day. Never thought I would ever say that. Trying to do a one mile video walk in the am and one mile video walk in the pm. That should really kick start my weight loss. Finally lost my first 20 pounds today. That's two bags of kitty litter in my world!

Well, after some job changes and holiday travel I am back and renewed in my quest for a healthier lifestyle. I am fortunate that with my step away from Spark that my weight didn't suffer too much....two pound gain. I also did continue to walk some which helped a great deal. So sorry for not being there for my Spark friends during the holidays but sometimes life takes us on different twists and turns and if we are lucky we can be the better for it. Wishes to everyone for a healthy and happy new year!

Fitness Minutes: 4,850

My Goals:
My goals at this part of my journey are to lose weight in a timely fashion, exercise to get fit, and enjoy the process. I would love to be able to walk a mile with our daughter and feel the success of it's completion. I want to become a fit and healthy senior who is ready to take on challenges.

My Program:
I am learning to eat each and every meal with plenty of fresh fruits and veggies and whole grains. Also learning to tiptoe into exercise which up until now was a forbidden word. Walking is a start for me with 2 one mile walks a day. Oh please, it's so painful but it feels so good when I am done. Finally I am trying to inspire my husband to join me. That's the most difficult part of my program.

Personal Information:
This is my turn to take care of myself. I am 63 years young and have worked and gone to school for forever. Now my full time job is just to get healthy and fit and get ready for retirement with my husband and family. Am enjoying this journey and know it will be a lifelong process in keeping healthy and fit!
