I'm a 41 y.o. guy living in Golden Valley (Minneapolis), MN. Now, 40-ish doesn't seem nearly as old as it used to. :-)

I am a very active person with MS. I would like to lose some weight, however my goal is focus on health and being active and staying in the workforce rather than obsessing over numbers. It is neither trite nor cliche to be grateful every day for the ability to be active, go to work, get to the gym, and hang out with friends.

I have a great deal of weight to lose (I'd like to lose at least 45 lbs), but I am realistic - working with neurologist, physical therapist, GP - know that I need to focus on remaining active and managing my MS. I am very lucky to be able to be as active as I am.

Recently I took a new job and have greatly changed my eating habits during the day. I now prepare a lunch and take it with me to work. I have over 5 months of taking my lunch to work pretty much every day. I am going to start meeting friends downtown for lunch once a week to get out of my office, at least when the weather is good. The down side is that the eating choices I have to make will be more challenging, however the walk (or bus) is about a mile each way.

The latest news is that I've joined the Lifetime 90 Day Fitness Challenge at the gym (Lifetime). I did a metabolic assesment, and got my special fitness # as well. I bought a heart rate monitor, and have been using it. I really love tracking my workouts this way. If you use the website, let me know and we can be friends on there. I'm looking into being able to share my workouts via Endomondo, and have already sync'd my Fitbit to SparkPeeps.

I'm excited about the 90 Day Challenge as well, because I've started to work with a personal trainer again. Between the metabolic workouts and getting my weight lifting tweaked, I'm hoping to make some real progress. This is stepping out of my comfort zones in a lot of ways. The first workout my trainer wanted me to do was in the pool, and it was great. It really has been good to inject new life into my workouts and excited about going to the gym again.

For other fun, I enjoy reading, writing, pottery (making it), French, movies, being with friends, and WoW.
