Hi. I lost 70 pounds, but I hit a plateau that has lasted at least several months now. I am solidly back into petite sizes again although I can still wear some juniors and occasionally some misses sizes too. And I am really enjoying that, especially because my skin has not become obviously loose through this process! I do credit that to the fact that I have taken my time. And, my health has continued to be very good. So, I haven't had what it takes to put in the extra efforts clearly required now for me to lose the additional 40 pounds I want to lose. It gets more difficult to lose weight the closer a person gets to their goal. But I feel ready now to try again. At least I have been successful today. I plan to continue re-learning and tracking healthy eating and exercise habits, earning Spark Points and joining others in this social online environment. Good luck all!

I don't know what it is about that spinning wheel and those trophies we can earn through SparkPeople...but they very much appeal to me. And I am anxious to earn the points required to get to my next reward. I also just today figured out how I can track my exercise without having it impact my nutrtional tracking which means alot to me. I had not been tracking my exercise because it would impact my nutritional tracking in a way I didn't like...by allowing me extra calories. Now that I figured out what I could click to prevent that from happening, I can and will finally begin tracking both!

I initially began this journey because my labs and blood pressure were no longer perfect as they had always been. They went just a little off kilter. But, losing what is now a total of at least 80 pounds has brought my labs right back where they need to be except I am just a bit low on Vitamin D due to us living in what is considered a "No sun zone" and me not being good enough about popping the Vitamin D the Dr. prescribed for me a year or two ago. She encouraged me to make more of a concentrated effort to assure I get adequate vitamin D and I will.

To those of you who are working toward goals like I am, I wish you success! I think it is very important to be ready to lose weight and understand and actually very much care about why you want to do it. Make sure you are doing it for yourself. Then, it is important to appreciate the positives that happen along the way. There are many positives that happen along the way if you pay attention and take time to appreciate them and maybe even celebrate some of them in a healthy way.

One other thing I have done that I have found has helped me is that I have made fairly routine appointments with my Dietition whose help I am fortunate enough to have available to me for free via my Tribal Health Services. It is considered Preventative Health Care! And, lucky me, that is all I need! And, I am working to keep it that way. If you have stuck with me through this, thank you for your attention. I know it is a bit scattered because of my updates. Please tell me about you and your efforts! And have a good day!

My Goals:
I have lost 80 pounds now and am continuing efforts to lose another 30 - 35 pounds at which point I plan to simply work at weight maintenace and exercise to continue to be in the best health I can be.

My Program:
Flexitaranism with exercise. I am considering making efforts to get closer to a Mediterranean Diet as the foods included in that diet seem to meet with my preferences and the benefits to a person's health are also of interest to me. I am also considering the DASH Diet. But I don't strictly follow anything, instead making efforts to learn while continuing to eat what I most enjoy and think are most beneficial for me.

Personal Information:
I am from the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Most people around here call it "God's Country!" We also call it "Kewadin Country". But regardless of what you call it, it is rural and beautiful with plenty of trees and water. I love it!

Other Information:
My Dietition is on a 3-month family leave right now due to having a baby so I won't see her again until December. Because I credit her work with me in helping me be so successful in my weight loss and health improvement efforts, I decided to finally pay the $5 per month fee to try SparkPeople Premium that allows a weekly online counseling session (in case I decide I need / want that), additional tracking and other potentially useful benefits. So far, I don't see a lot of difference for that $5 but since $5 isn't much, I am continuing with it in hopes it will help me do better during the absence of my Dietition. I also credit the tracking and all the reading, etc. I have done through SparkPeople for helping me lose this weight so $5 per month, I figure, is fair to contribute to that effort.
