An Other New Beginning
I rebooted my program Nov 17 2017 and I've been back with it for a month now. So in celebration of my first 5 lbs lost, I'm updating my sparkpage! I'm struggling with an undiagnosed illness which makes exercise in more than very modest quantities ill advised. So this time around, my program is all about taking it slow and steady. I'm struggling with an undiagnosed illness which makes exercise in more than very modest quantities ill advised. So this time around, my program is all about taking it slow and steady. Modest goals, careful calorie counting and those 10 min/day exercise goals. I'm hoping to slowly bump that to 30, but I have to be careful. So far, it's working! I'm using gorilla workout (app) for strength training and watching videos on youtube for yoga routines. Some days I cheat a little and just log my steps from Google fit as my exercise (like when I work, my job can involve a lot of steps, or when I run errands in the city, it's a whole day on my feet). Either way, it's working. I set a 1lb/week weight loss goal and don't fully expect to achieve it because it's not always possible for me to create a 500 calorie deficit. I'm only 5"4' and the difference between that 1200cals and my BMR is only around 200 cals. Sparkpeople adds on normal daily activities (like assuming a desk job, and errands) when my reality is that I'm closer to bedridden 3-4 days a week. And I can work to build muscle, but it's not a great idea for me to try to "burn calories" with excess cardio because my body can't keep up with my energy needs no matter how I feed it. So, on a bad day, with my 10 min exercise and the amount of activity I do in the house, we're maybe getting a 300cal deficit if I eat bang on 1200cals. So I think I can hope for 1/2 lb/week going forward.
