Now I'm months away from my 71st B'day and all the promises have been for naught. My DECADES with spark people have mostly been just a place to vent!

While over all my health is still good, spent a few weeks last year with some weird back spasming thing that had me off exercise and, of course, too much I've got nothing else to do eating. Also spent a fortune on my teeth as my dentist retired and the new one is catching up on all the stuff the old one was letting slide. Yeah, some of it is BS, but some of it was Why was I seeing the hygenist every 4 months while 3 of my teeth were obviously rotting in my mouth!!! ended up losing one of them completely! and we've been super busy at work. 2018 had cataract surgery on one eye, was supposed to have the other done last year but the teeth thing and the back spasming thing had me pushing that off. Visiting the eye doctor next week to get back on that process.

THEN they found plaque in my husband's caratoids, and while our primary care says its not too bad, its meant serious cut back on salt, sugar and most of all FATS. so a whole new way of learning to cook.

and hopefully, that will be the move that gets my husband to give up some of his snacking. Cause its damn hard to resist when an open bag of chips is sitting right next to you on the couch.

If yes, then consider joining the BL Challenge that starts early June. Each week 11 teams of 24 Active, do fun nutritional and fitness challenges. You know Liz... I add WW to SP sometimes because it lets me eat fries (like 5 albeit rarely) Thanks for the tip with the Omega supplements.

Thank you so much for the gardening information! I am going to have a patio garden, just enough to be able to slip out on the patio for lunch! I am still getting settled in and then will tackle this beast!

Thank you for taking the time to write a really thought-provoking response to my blog, "Is This How It Ends?" The purpose of my writing the blog was to stimulate discussion and to make people think what it means literally and figuratively to have a high BMI. The stark graphic for some has been a wakeup call.

Granted, you expanded on the theme as one should. The site is not meant to be scientific, nor is it, noting three issues and then plugging that into a formula to derive one's "death date". Physicians worth their salt will not merely take numbers and crunch them. Medicine, after all, is sometimes more Art than Science.

Others on here have had your issue with Hashimoto's (1CrazyDog comes to mind immediately), and against the odds and her physicians' beliefs, she has beat it. So, once again, anything medical is not written in stone. And that is the take home in all this.

If the blog encourages people to be more active, great. But as we know, weight loss is 80% diet, and 20% exercise. Not to belittle that 20% which, if for nothing more, gives us a wonderful rush.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond to the blog in a well-thought out way.

All the best as you continue on your journey to better health,

emoticon emoticon Just remember baby steps, one step at a time, one day at a time. You didn't gain it overnight and it won't go away overnight.
