I have had a weight problem ever since I was a child. I remember how focused my family was on it. When I was in fifth grade, I met a pediatrician who got me a diet I could manage myself and I became pretty empowered and lost a great deal of weight. When I went to college, when most people gain weight I lost and kept it off pretty well until after my first child. About the age of 40, I mentally became tired and threw in the towel. Unfortunately the pounds started to sneak up on me. At 55 I got on the scale and realized I could be considered obese. Also my blood pressure was up and my liver enzymes and my calcium levels were out of whack. I knew I had to gain control again, or I won't be able to enjoy my grandchildren.

I been with Spark People for just over six years now. I am not where I want to be but my doctors have seen a radical improvement in all the things that were going bad. I am still fighting with my liver, but have made changes that will help that situation. I had a very emotional year a while ago and gained back a good chunk of what I lost. I try not to dwell on that. I am still working toward my goal weight but enjoying life as it comes. I appreciate all the support that I have received from my Spark Friends and am committed to keep at it.

Just saw your current status...I'm so sad to hear about the death of the student and parent that got in the car accident. My heart is hurting for you and their family.

Yikes! That sounds like an awfully scary blizzard! I remember back in OH a year before we moved to FL they got 24 inches of snow in two days and raging winds that made big drifts too. We lived in the country about 6 miles out of town and we had to have big earth movers to clear out roads-we were snowed in for a few days until that was done. Then when we drove down the roads, it was one lane and the snow was piles higher than our SUV!!! It was scary if another car came our way-one of us would have to back up-to Where? It only happened once and they backed up to a clearing behind them-another roadway thank goodness. It was when we swore that was it-moving to the sunshine state!! Let's hope you do get that warm up and it does melt quickly and not cause any more problems! Be careful. Thanks for the update-was thinking of you. Glad you like the greenery in my photos...that is why I like to post them, it gives others hope that spring is just around the corner. Hang in there. emoticon

How are you doing? Did that blizzard hit? This weather has been crazy! We have been flirting with freezing temps last few nights-even had frost in spots last night. Today was 83, then back down in a couple nights to 35! UGH! Be careful out there! Appreciate your always commenting on the feed and staying in touch. I am going to the Chiropractor tomorrow...need another treatment. Back/hip have been kind of bad and makes the knees feel worse! Hope your health has been good! emoticon

By the way, thanks for commenting on my blog. Glad you liked the pics and warmed you up! emoticon

Not sure about the orange groves, but I know the Iguana lizards down in S. FL are falling out of trees frozen! Well, they are alive, but can't move they are so cold! And that is when it is 40 degrees. Florida can't deal with temps this low! I can vouch for that! Have a good week! Hope it warms up for you a bit. emoticon
