My Journey to the me that has always been inside me :-)
I am a 48 year young woman who stands 5' 4.5" tall and as of today weighs 210 pds with 44.5% body fat.
I have had to be careful about my weight pretty much all my life. I joined the Canadian Military when I was 18 and retired at 38 so for those 20 years keeping my physique under wraps was rather easy.
During those years I gave birth to 3 children and have the 'apron belly' to prove it. (wow...talk about telling it like it is) lol
I have done rather well ...

I have done rather well keeping my weight under control however in the last two years a few things happened and I guess I kinda said...too bad...can't focus on my weight right now...not a good idea I know.
In April 07 I quit smoking cigarettes after smoking them for 33 years! Grossss!! I am so proud of this accomplishment. When I quit I wasn't letting anything stop my quit and ended eating so many friggin butter tarts I don't think I could ever eat another one! I haven't since.
In October 07 I was in a really bad car accident that left me with 2nd degree whiplash and issues with my right glute. I was in physio and massage therapy for awhile and still am to some extent. In January of 08 my physio therapist and I decided that I would be ok in joining a gym because at this point I needed to do something...with the buttertarts plus lack of exercise due to the accident I had reached 214 pds!
So I joined GoodLife. In March I hired a trainer for 72 sessions and between him and my physio therapist was really getting back on track good. I actually got my body fat down to 39% however it never went lower no matter how hard I worked out or how clean my nutrition was. My weight went down to 199 from Jan to Aug...I was getting very discouraged! I could tell in my clothes that I was doing well however it just wasn't happening.
Then in August I got really sick...in fact I thought I was going into a depression. Freaked out about it all I went to see my doctor and he sent me for blood test. Results came back indicating that I had a very low thyroid...no wonder I was having the issues I was. I have no idea why but I stopped going to the gym thinking I'll go back when my thyroid is under control...how I allowed myself to do that I have no idea. So when this happened I still had 20, 1 hour training sessions left that I put on hold. I could have simply put the training on hold but still went to the gym but anyway...
So I was put on my syntroid and looks like my thyroid is under control now. I go for blood test next week and will see if it's where the doctor wants it to be. All I know is I feel a million times better and I know that NOW is the time to get back into the groove and focus on getting into shape and changing my lifestyle.
I purchased Jim Katsoulis 'Program Yourself Thin' and am going to work on my mindset as well this time. I am pretty positive but deal with emotional eating as well as bored eating and I need to work on these. I have read Tom Venuto's Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle and have just started reading his new book that I received yesterday, The Body Fat Solution. I am going to book my 20 sessions with my trainer and am confident that in the next 8 weeks I will see some progress. I'm not sure what to put my goals too right now but will discuss that with my trainer when I see him.
I live alone with my 16 year old son. My 21 year old daughter lives with her boyfriend.
I am currently unemployed for the first time in 30 years as I was laid off in November. I work in health and safety and am confident that I will soon be employed again.
