I started gaining my extra weight when I first started to get ill and had to quit working. Being exhausted all the time did not help my activity level. I slowly continued to gain weight and then I quit smoking. That's when the snowball started downhill, and continued until I had gained another 35 pounds in the last two years. My health is now worse than when I quit smoking. The weight gain, I believe, was the cause of a disk in my lower lumbar region to herneate, making it more difficult to be active. I have three other disks that are bulging. The pain causes me to want to eat. So, there it is in a nutshell.

My Goals:
In the last two years I have gained over 35 pounds to my over-weight body. This weight gain started off by my quiting smoking, because I wanted to get healthy. After a year of gaining weight, I decided to lose some weight, which was working, until I started to exercise. I ended up rupturing a lumbar disk, which was probably ready to blow anyway because of the weight gain. I need to get control of my eating habits; I need to become stronger and healthier!

My Program:
Eat healthier, i.e., salads, vegetables.

Drink 8 glasses of water a day.

Eat only sugarless candy.

Keep a daily calorie count.

Take my Usana vitamins on a daily basis.

Do some exercises while watching TV in the evenings.

Personal Information:
My name is Karen and I live in southeast Idaho.

Other Information:
I have two dogs that love to go for a walk, but with the excess weight and the herneated disk, it is almost impossible! I have made progress though. I can walk around my block now.
