I've always struggled with my weight, for as long as I can remember. About 7 years ago, I finally got serious about becoming healthier. What I love about SparkPeople is that this is not a diet, it's a way of healthy living! That is always my goal.

I'm sad to say that I've fallen off the Spark wagon recently as it's been a rather stressful year. Not that that's an excuse, really, it shouldn't be. But it is what it is. The important thing is that I AM BACK!! I also just moved from Boston to San Diego. This move has been a dream of mine for years now, and my husband and I had the opportunity to pursue it, so we did. I'm hoping that the lack of snowy winters out here will help me stay on track all year round, and not just during the 3 or 4 months of nice weather we have on the East Coast.

So far I've run a 5k, a 10k, a 5 mile and a half-marathon. I've completed two sprint distance triathlons. I also trained for a 7.5 mile road race, but had to back out at the last minute due to the flu. Realizing that I wasn't healthy enough to run something I had worked so hard for took more strength than running the actual distance.

I'm always looking for my next physical challenge - maybe the San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon next year?

My Goals:
Get back on track, now that we're settling in San Diego.

1. Track food
2. Exercise!!!! MOVE, damn it!!
3. More veggies
4. Smaller portions
5. Less junk!!

My Program:
My program is watching and tracking everything that I eat and trying to stay within my calorie ranges for the day. I'm trying to fill my day with healthy choices, lots of veggies, fruit, nutrient rich foods. I try not to beat myself up if I go over my calorie range for the day because I had a banana or a glass of milk.

Keep exercising!!! Get back on the treadmill!!! Being tired is not allowed!

There's so much stimuli around us all the time, and we always feel like we need to be entertained or busy or productive.

The best thing you can do for yourself is to take time for silence everyday. In that silence you come to know yourself, and you can focus on who you are, what you want, and how you will get there.
