Oh yeah, THIS is me... Shedding the fat suit I've been carrying around for a while, and underneath is the body I used to love lving in. It's still here! Like in an archeological dig, bit by bit the treasure is exposed again to the light of day.

May Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, and Ho Tei, the laughing and abundant buddha, accompany you on your journeys! May your fires be stoked by Shiva and Kali, and may Quan Yin, the goddess of compassion, protect you.

Fitness Minutes: 9,952

My Goals:
To be lean again.

To love Self and Fellow Humans every moment, or most, anyway.

To find my way back to the Big Adventure and living with a daring spirit.

To welcome moment-by-moment epiphanies and dance more often on the razor's edge.

My Program:
Rebuild healthier relationships, most importantly the one with myself.

I record my meals daily and keep calories around 1,000 calories daily -- any higher doesn't work for me now. I try to walk for an hour every day that I can, or a brisk half hour if I can't. Strength training 3x per week. I park at the far end of the parking lot, stretch whenever I think of it, do a few moments of cardio in my office throughout the day whenever I can get away with it, and generally try to up the ante daily.

Drinking 12 cups of water daily got me through a stubborn plateau, so I'll keep it up. As of 10/17/10, I'm changing to green tea instead of coffee.

Personal Information:
I live in coastal Maine and am the proud mama of three beautiful, healthy, brilliant and kind 20-somethings. One lives in Boston, one on the Cape, and my youngest is in Russia on a Fullbright scholarship for a year.

A serious athletic injury in 2009 messed with my fitness for a while. It's healed but I'm still working on getting full strength in my knees back.

Losing weight at my current age and lifestyle has been nothing like it used to be -- I've been tweaking my diet and exercise for nearly 5 months and have lost almost 10 pounds. I used to be able to lose that much in a month, sigh.

Other Information:
I study homeopathy, nutritional healing, and herbal remedies. I plan to stay away from allopathic treatments, and so far I've had great success with alternatives. My knee surgeon told me I healed better and much faster than most people younger than me after surgery -- I know it was thanks to the homeopathy and herbal tinctures I used. Alternative treatments are all based on healthy lifestyle choices. Unlike the allopathic approach where disease is treated, alternatives treat the person, mind, body, and spirit as a whole being. Quality foods are the foundation and cornerstone. Like Michael Pollan says, "Eat food, mostly vegetables, not too much." And whenever you can, know who grows it.
