Update summer 2017 Didn't lose the weight. Didn't stay with 24 hour fitness. Now My wife and I are trying again. We hired a trainer to come twice a week to our house. That's working well. We are doing a ketogenic diet but I don't think I've ever been in ketosis. With this diet and exercise though I've lost 10 pounds in about a month. We are eating better. Fewer carbs and pretty much no sugar. I haven't been too hungry. I have some problems getting enough protein since I'm not a big meat eater. Priscilla is on this journey also. She has a lot more weight than me to lose. So far she hasn't given up beer. If she did I think the fat would melt away. Update 9/17. Been on keto a while. Probably never in ketosis. Lost 10 but should have lost more. Now decide to track calories. Still eating low carb but not as carb restricted as keto. Need to keep carbs down. My blood sugar is better in low carb. Still having trainer twice a week 2010? My name's Judy and I am ready to lose weight. I have about 75 pounds to lose. I went to a lapband seminar but (a) I don't want to spend 15,000 and (b) I don't want to eat the way I would have to with lapband for the rest of my life. My partner and I are simply changing our habits. We are using Sparkpeople to track our calories and we are eating smaller portions and healthier food. The biggest challenge I have is my exercise aversion. I haven't found any kind of activity I like yet. The weather here is in the 100 degree range every day so we don't walk like we should. I recently joined 24 hour fitness and paid for a trainer there. I still don't like it but I do go. My neighbor is also a member so we sometimes go together.

We have two dogs, Rusty and Benny and two cats, Mya and Eon.
We are godparents to Adira who was born in Dec. 2008. It's such fun to see her blossom.
I have a son at Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA and a daughter who works in NYC at a film editing school.
I love bargain hunting at thrift stores and garage sales.

Other Information:
I taught middle school for 17 years. I decided I really didn't want to do that anymore and started working at a veterinary hospital as a receptionist. I absolutely loved that. Unfortunatly, we moved and now I am substitute teaching.

    Thank you ... I workout 5-6 days a week. I burn 6000 a week. I use a heart rate monitor to calculate the calories burned. I love working out ... it makes me feel good about myself.

    Yes to TV at the gym!! I love to watch tv there!!! It makes my treadmill time go by SO FAST....

    Thank you for the comments on my Spark Page. We are expecting snow here tomorrow. I am hoping to catch the bus and go to the Y for a walk. I haven't been able to take a good aerobic walk in a few days because of sciatica and heel spur problems but I am feeling better and want to get back to walking. Hope you all have a great weekend camping. emoticon
