I am tired of gaining and losing wt over the years. I worked very hard 4 years ago to lose 75lbs and felt great. I quit smoking in Feb. this year and gained 50 lbs back. I cannot stand the way I feel every day. I am starting the uphill climb again and hopefully for the last time.
Update:
Well I have survived Halloween with only eating a little candy. My weight loss has slowed down a little, but I shall keep pushing. I have been following my program and so far so good. I did decide to kick up my cardio a notch this week and I am going to try to start taking Maeve on our walks again. Maybe in the morning........if I can wake up early enough. The key is to take Maeve only once and she will wake me every morning after at the same time. Maeve is too smart for my own good.
My eating habits are getting better. I am primarily making all my meals and following my nutrition guidelines.......though pizza is still my nemesis. One other idea I have started is eating at my dinning room table instead of in front of the TV. I find that by sitting down and reading a book, I concentrate more on the book than eating. This has slowed down the time I usually take to eat. Well, now to see what the next 6 weeks will bring.

Quote of the Week: 11/10/2008
Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan press on has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.
~John Calvin Coolidge

Whenever I feel I can't make the effort, I read one of my favorite poems:
DON'T QUIT!
By: Unknown
When things go wrong , as they sometimes will, when the road you're trudging seems all up hill, when the funds are low, and the debts are high, and you want to smile, but you have to sigh, when care is pressing you down a bit, rest if you must, but DON'T YOU QUIT.
Life is queer with its twists and turns, as everyone of us sometimes learns, and many a failure turns about, when he might have won had he stuck it out; don't give up though the pace seems slow, you may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out, the silver tint of the clouds of doubt, and you never can tell how close you are, it may be near when it seems so far; so stick to the fight when you're hardest hit, its when things seem worse, THAT YOU MUST NOT QUIT!

Quote for December 12/2/08
If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it or work around it.
~Michael Jordan
This is how I am going to treat the Holidays. The main goal is to find a way to enjoy myself without going overboard. Thanksgiving was the first test and I feel I passed. Today my weight is 229, which means I was able to still lose 1 lb.....WHOOO! This is a life long change for me, so I need to be able to still enjoy life while changing. That is the only way I will succeed and I WILL succeed. :0)

Quote for January 2009:
Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.
~ President Barack Obama
I felt this was appropriate for the beginning of this year. Only I can decide when and what I want to change about my life. I did not gain any weight over the holidays nor did I stress about what I ate. For the first time in years, I enjoyed and let myself be happy. The one set back was not being able to work out as much. I am working on getting back into my habit of working out at lunch EVERY day at work. A little slow but, I am getting there. I have lost 33 pounds and I still have 77 more to lose. This is the year, this is my time. Watch out world here I come! :0)

Quote for March 2009:
Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning how to dance in the rain!
~Unknown
HELLO 40! I have made it!
I am teaching myself to dance in the rain this year. I have not lost anymore weight, but I have not gained any. I am happy with that, because I am still working out and feeling better about myself. I took time in February to concentrate on how I perceive myself in the mirror. I went to my sister's stylist and received a new look and I love it! I look younger and I smile a lot more, who would think a new hair style could do all that. I also was given a great gift for my 40th birthday; my parents and sister are sending me on a cruise! My first vacation in 6 years, I am ready. I have kept up my workouts and am now, with the nice weather, walking on the nights I don't have to work at my 2nd job with my dog Maeve. Last month was hard because we lost our friend Tada; he was a one of a kind dog that could always make you laugh on a bad day. For once I did not turn to food to drown my sorrows, thank you SP for helping me through that tough time. I have added weekend workouts and on nice days will walk to my 2nd job on the weekends that I work. Saving gas and adding extra cardio.
I think I am going to dance in the rain a lot this year..who need an umbrella!
