Hey You. How was your trip? We've both been off these boards for awhile. Should we go back together?

Hi! Welcome to sparks people. I'm glad that you find my posts/blogs inspiring. I won't say it's an easy journey, but it *is* worth it.

It's daunting to face changing your entire lifestyle to one that is healthier--that's why I'm such a big believer of baby steps. Sometimes I read things like "oh, you shouldn't eat any grains" or "look at all the sugar hidden in foods and you shouldn't eat it!" and feel overwhelmed. So I have focused on making slow, gradual changes. And a lot of times instead of focusing on something i "can't" have because it's "bad" I focus on eating MORE of things that are good for me... which means I'm less tempted by the bad! For example, if I get in 8 cups of water every day, I'm less likely to drink soft drinks because I'm just not thirsty. If I'm eating veggies and whole grains, I'm less likely to have room afterward for desert or sweets. And once I get comfortable with the changes I started with, I try to improve something else. Sure, it's slow, but it is also sustainable and gives me time to figure out how to incorporate WITH the rest of my life! So baby steps is definitely a big part of my mantra!

My other mantra is everything in moderation (including moderation, LOL!) Seriously, though, I find I personally do better if I allow myself treats--because if I know I can have a little chocolate or whatever as long as I don't over do it, I'm less likely to break down and really binge on it because I don't know when I'll allow myself to have any again later. If that makes sense!

    Good luck!
